By youthgrunt
I will update this as the results come in.
Very early results are:
18% Precincts Reporting
Elrod (R) - 44.5%
Carson (D) - 52.8%
Shepard (L) - 2.7%
There SHOULD be a different dynamic this year in that in previous elections, Center Township (downtown Indy) reported last. This year, all of votes are being tabulated in the Convention Center downtown. The ballots are boxed up and brought to the Convention center and fed through readers. I consider this a stupid method of counting votes. So in the past, the Democrat always surged as the reporting continued. This year, the surrounding townships should be counted last, which should favor Elrod.

Today is the day. Republican Jon Elrod is going against Democrat Andre Carson today. As has become the norm here in Indy, several polls opened late. The morning host on the talk radio station this morning had significant problems voting as well. That is until he started doing a live segment from the polling location.

Posted at 1:35pm on Jan. 15, 2008 Response to David Ribeirao, "Double Standard for Fred?" - Pt 1
By youthgrunt
David Ribeirao wrote a comment on Erick's post in which Erick stated why he is opposed to Romney.
http://www.redstate.com/blogs/erick/2008/jan/13/youve_asked_why_i_seem_t...
In this lengthy comment, Ribeirao went through the reasons that he believes that Fred is a weak candidate or at least the negatives about Fred. Rather than discuss his comment there, I decided to write a blog addressing his comment in parts.

By youthgrunt
The candidates will be Republican, Jon Elrod versus Democrat, Andre Carson.
Andre is the grandson of Julia Carson, the previous Representative who died while in office. Last year he was appointed to fill a City County Councilor seat when another Councilor was found to have not been living in his district. He went on and won the seat (unopposed) in the general election. That is the entirety of his elected office experience. He has precious little experience in any other way, as well. In other words, his primary qualification is his last name.

By youthgrunt
I posted before that I believe that IN-07 could go Republican. I still think it is possible. Regardless, here is what is going on.
This Saturday, the Democrats are coming together to choose their candidate for the 7th district special election. They have a lot of choices! I believe this is the full list:
City-County Councilor Andre Carson
Marion Cty Treasurer Michael Rodman
State Rep. Carolene Mays

By youthgrunt
Skanderbeg has inspired me. Unfortunately I am less cultured than he or several other quite knowledgeable contributors here at RedState.
But here is what I can offer. It is listed as PDQ Bach, but it is really Prof. Peter Schickele piece once titled, according to Schickele, the "Pathetic Symphony" by his old friends. He subsequently got a new set of friends who named it the "Unbegun Symphony".

Posted at 10:41am on Dec. 18, 2007 IN-07 Could Switch Republican
By youthgrunt
Representative Julia Carson (D) passed away this last weekend leaving the historically Democrat party controlled district up for grabs. The governor will have to set a date for a special election and each party will have to caucus to bring a single candidate from each party into the special election.
The Republican party has been weakened in Indianapolis (District 7 covers the majority of Indianapolis), but has just won a significant upset victory when unknown Greg Ballard upset the two-term, powerful, Democrat Mayor Bart Peterson.
