Posted at 2:19pm on Dec. 8, 2006 Rooting for Condi: Against the Skullduggery of the ISG Report

By Section9

One of the more destructive aspects of the ISG report is the movement by James Baker and his Saudi patrons to undermine the Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. An entire cottage industry has been created overnight by the Usual Suspects in the "realist school" to try to pry the Secretary away from George W. Bush's side and send her packing, Rumsfeld-like, out the door and back to Stanford.

For example, it seems that Steve Clemons has decided to participate in this home invasion. Earlier, of course, Clemons was using leaks from people he swore were close to Condi to undermine John Bolton. Now he's peddling the opinions of some Jannisary as fact to help Jim Baker destroy her. But it's much larger than just Steve. Read on....

Posted at 5:42pm on Nov. 1, 2006 The Elitist Compulsion

By Section9

John Kerry made his "joke" quite on purpose and not by accident. One of the proofs occurred to me today as I ran accross a Lefty site, Princess SparklePony's Photo Blog. Pony uses the site to post photos of Condi Rice and other Bush administration officials that have satirical commentary attached to them, usually about Rice's hair, or her wardrobe. The site is filled with the usual condescension and contempt towards Rice for being black, Christian, and Republican at the same time. My assumption would be that such a person would reserve her sarcasm for officials like Rice, but in genral, support the troops.

Boy was I wrong. More below the fold....

Posted at 2:20pm on May 1, 2006 Matt Yglesias and Iran: the Democrats' Flight from Responsibility

By Section9

As this is my first diary post, I might as well lead off with a shocking observation: ah, the "reasonable" Democrats.

Fresh from watching another Armed Services recruiting depot get trashed by Young Democrats, I went over to RealClearPolitics and found this link to the latest Matthew Yglesias' Talking Points Memo Cafe Post about the White House's approach to the Iran crisis.

The entire thrust of Yglesias' approach can be summed up in this nut graph:

The war party needs to be attacked -- vociferously -- in part by pointing to the sort of crassness on display in the Time article, in part with reference to the administration's now-legendary incompetence, but in part with the deeper point that this is simply a wildly bad idea.

This looked to me for a moment as if I was reading a piece right out of the legendary Justin Raimondo of tinfoil hat fame. However, I wasn't. It was Yglesias. He of the "constructive, antiwar, things would be much better if only our party were running the show" fame. No Moonbat he.

There's more below the fold.
