Posted at 9:46am on Jun. 24, 2008 The Daily Show Takes On The Messiah

By Nick Haynes

Last night, I watched the Daily Show, as I do most nights (I hate my conservatism). What did I see, but this?

Pay attention at about 3:15, as well. And that wasn't all.

By Nick Haynes

Some of these might be known...others might not. I made it mostly for fun. Start really paying attention at about 1:14.

Enjoy!

By Nick Haynes

Coming right of the heels of the deletion diary, I went over to that wonderful world known as Daily Kos and found this little nugget:

Posted at 9:54am on Mar. 19, 2008 Dick Morris Is Losing My Respect

By Nick Haynes

Over the past few years, Dick Morris has been garnering respect from conservatives. He's railed against the Clintons, and he's been an anti-Washington type of guy that we normally respect. For example:

Missouri voters, Morris offered, “don’t like to import Washington dirt into Jefferson City. So, very rarely does somebody move from Washington into state politics.”

Posted at 10:51am on Mar. 9, 2008 File This Under "See, I Told You So"

By Nick Haynes

As in "See, I told you that the MSM would turn on McCain-friends or no."

Along with his signature bright white hair, the most striking aspects of Senator John McCain’s physical appearance are his puffy left cheek and the scar that runs down the back of his neck. The marks are cosmetic reminders of the melanoma surgery he underwent in August 2000. Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, sometimes tells audiences that he has “more scars than Frankenstein.”...

Posted at 8:09am on Feb. 22, 2008 Huckabee Admits He Can't Win In Primaries Alone

By Nick Haynes

At least he's not looking forward to a scenario that would be divisive:

“If we win Texas, I think it changes the dynamics of this race. It could well go all the way to the convention. If the convention delegates pick the president, chances are they would pick the most conservative. I would be the one they would end up picking, if that’s the criteria.

I can't imagine what Huck is thinking by doing this, other than angling to be considered the 2nd place finisher this year. One thing that appears to be certain, though: Huck doesn't really care about our chances in November, so long as there is a benefit for him.

How sad.

Posted at 1:48pm on Feb. 16, 2008 MO-9: The Current Rundown

By Nick Haynes

From deep in the heart of Missouri, the 9th District race is shaping up to be one of the most competitive and exciting this year. Originally projected to be a safe seat, Congressman Kenny Hulshof decided last month to run for governor after incumbent Gov. Matt Blunt decided against running for reelection.

And now the rundown (unfortunately w/o poll numbers):

DEMOCRATS
Three candidates have tossed their names in the hat for their party's nomination:

Posted at 12:04pm on Feb. 8, 2008 Tragedy in the Heart of America

By Nick Haynes

My home state has been struck by the type of senseless tragedy that is unfortunately far too common today:

Six people were killed, including the shooter and two officers, after a gunman opened fire at a meeting of the Kirkwood City Council in suburban St. Louis Thursday night.

Two police officers and three people attending the meeting were killed after the gunman rushed the council chambers and began firing as he yelled "Shoot the mayor!", according to St. Louis County Police spokeswoman Tracy Panus. Two others were wounded.

Posted at 11:48am on Feb. 8, 2008 Why Does This Not Surprise Me?

By Nick Haynes

Searching through Drudge today, I found this little nugget:

Rochester physician Terry Bennett said he rented a city building to people who worked for Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign — and skipped town without paying the bill...

Neither Bennett nor [Realtor Michael] Whitney knew how many people actually stayed in the building. The rent charged was $100 a day, for a total of $500...
