As I recall, there are a number of fans in the upper echelons of RedState, and after reading Erick's periodic Fred love-ins and Reagan nostalgia I couldn't help but laugh at today's strip:

In all fairness to Thompson, though, I do think he would be a formidable opponent to any of the current candidates over on my side of the great ditch. Politics are always more than just policy positions, and FDT seems to have the bravura and presence people crave in a leader - and I'm not a Democrat who believes it is all well-honed acting skills either.

To my friends at RedState:
My term as a law clerk ends today, and with it ends the considerable free time to post in the same volume as I have this past year. This is not to say I'm packing my bags and never coming back, but I doubt I can go toe to toe as frequently as I used to. I travel to Fort Stewart, GA for my annual training the back half of July, so I will be away from the boards for a few weeks in any event. My next gig is still up in the air, but I'm interviewing with Legal Aid and the Public Defender's office, so we'll see where fate takes me. (more)
