A couple weeks back, Captain Ed wrote a post about a new website from the UN Foundation:
OD1 wants people to submit their video suggestions for the Day 1 policy of the US. So far, most of what's posted consists of the standard progressive policy fare -- stop "cowboy diplomacy" (from Joe Wilson, no less!), withdraw from Iraq, invade Darfur, restore peace in the Middle East -- restore? -- and close Gitmo.

The majority leader race from earlier this year predates my time as a commenter on RedState, and I definitely remember how that went down.
But I've got to say, after Bush's pathetic have-it-both-ways address, Roy Blunt definitely hit the right mark with his statement last night:
"While I appreciate the president's willingness to tackle big problems, I have real concerns about moving forward with a guest worker program or a plan to address those currently in the United States illegally until we have adequately addressed our serious border security problems."
Dead on. The thing we have to make sure of first and before we can talk about anything else is making sure no one gets in who shouldn't be here. Other MOCs made similar statements, but this is exactly the right tone, and we need to hear more of it. (And we REALLY need to hear some of that from the Senate, but I'm not holding my breath).
From one RedStater to Roy Blunt, we're definitely behind you on immigration. Way to show what a real conservative thinks on this issue. Please keep at it.
