With 359 out of 512 precincts in the Sixth Congressional District race in Louisiana, 32,607 people have voted in the Democratic primary and 20,020 people have voted in the Republican primary. One can make the argument that the Democratic Primary was more hotly contested with four credible candidates duking it out, but there was a contested Republican Primary as well.

The Democratic candidate who has a plurality right now is Don Cazayoux, a white Democrat similar to Blue Dog Charlie Melancon, who will see his vote percentage drop since there are a lot of Baton Rouge precincts outstanding that should favor other opponents, but he still will likely obtain a plurality. Furthermore, the gap between Democratic turnout and Republican turnout I think will change some, but at the end of the night, more Democrats will likely have voted and by a significant margin.

By bayouman

From the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate:

Republican Secretary of State Jay Dardenne is considering a run for U.S. Senate next year.

“I’ve gotten a lot of people contacting me about it, expressing interest about my being a candidate,” said Dardenne.

“A lot of people think I should do it and wanted to support me.”

How does one put the big quote symbol for a quote in one's blog entry? I tried doing so earlier but couldn't, and was unable to find a tutorial or anything else on the website. Thanks in advance.

By bayouman

Not that I'm much of a Jon Stewart fan, but this is classic. From last night's show:

Eleanor Clift: There's an opening for a dream ticket, and the ticket you hear is Bloomberg-Hagel.

Jon Stewart: Bloomberg-Hagel? That doesn't sound like a dream ticket, that sounds like a rare genetic disorder! In fact, I recommend, right here right now, anybody thinking about having kids be tested for Bloomberg-Hagel.
