This is simply stunning and terrific news for any and every American.  There is a Massive amount of oil just found right off the southern tip of Louisiana.

This find Quadruples "Discoverable Oil Reserves"

Scientists from the University of Cornell have discovered a massive amount of Oil off the coast of Louisiana. The find is some 60 billion barrels or 3 Times more than current US recoverable Oil of 20 Billion barrels, and would bring US total reserves to 80 billion barrels which is on par with Venezuela. In comparison to other finds around the world, this is twice the size of all Oil ever found in the North Sea and 6 times larger than the estimates of the Alaskan ANWR oil deposits.

We can debate the good and bad of $4/gallon Gas until we've all gone to sleep, but one thing which can solve many problems currently faced in the American Economy is a reduction of Oil consumed by the vehicles we drive.

Oil is quickly becoming a liability as well as an assett.  Reading on Wikipedia, I found that the Nutjob in charge of Iran used Oil policy, and export policy of oil, to rise to power on a Populist platform. He ran on a platform to put Iranian oil money on every table in their country.  Now we all know how big a problem he's become.  One way to eliminate such threats in the future would be to eliminate the need to actually interact with these countries.  Ending the Oil Addiction can be reality, if we fast track a few promising technologies.
