Posted at 9:50am on Sep. 14, 2006 AI: Hezbollah War Criminals

By thepunditblogger

Amnesty Internatational today, found that Hezbollah committed war crimes and broke international law, by firing thousands of rockets into Israel and targeting and killing civilians.

The Human Rights Groups called on the United Nations to formally investigate Hezbollah for war crimes. "Targeting civilians is a war crime. There's no gray area," said Larry Cox, Amnesty's executive director in the United States. AI went on to say that while Hezbollah claims they didn't target civilians, they loaded well known inaccurate rockets with thousands of metal balls, in order to maximize damage and harm to noncombatants. Amnesty International is also calling for the release of the 2 Israeli soldiers held by Hezbollah.

By thepunditblogger

Remember that show "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego"? Well, even that show gets more media attention than the kidnapping of Fox News correspondent Steve Centanni and his cameraman Olaf Wiig. Now, if it was Anderson Cooper who was kidnapped, it would be the top story on CNN and others, but it's a Fox News correspondent. However, the question does linger, "Why isn't Fox News even covering it?".

Posted at 3:10pm on Aug. 18, 2006 Only 200 Troops? That's not enough to surrender!

By thepunditblogger

France is today defending its decision to send only 200 of its troops to Lebanon, when it was supposed to take the lead in the effort to help the Lebanese army.

"I can't let it be said or implied that France is not doing its duty in the Lebanese crisis," French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie told French radio RTL in an interview. "Since the start of the crisis, France is on the frontline and it is the top contributor."

Posted at 11:05am on Aug. 18, 2006 Journalists without Freedom

By thepunditblogger

As I site here typing this entry, I have difficulty not thinking about independent journalists around the world, in jail for doing the same thing I am. Expressing my views, having an opinion and questioning government action. We have a tendency to forget about how much freedom we actually have. Those complaining about the NSA wiretapping, may not realize that if it were some other country, they may not have the right to question it. As we sit here, criticizing the judge who ruled against the government in the NSA wiretapping case, I must reflect. We live in a nation, where the President must appeal the decision of a judge. Now whether you agree with the NSA ruling or not, this action is still vital. One day a liberal President will be in office, and it will be a conservative judges turn, to shoot down a Presidents action. I'm getting off topic.

Posted at 10:57am on Aug. 17, 2006 Help Them

By thepunditblogger

In the United States, we often forget about just how lucky we are. At any moment, you could decide to start a blog and dedicate it to criticizing the government, and they couldn't do a damn thing about it. If people in Cuba do such a thing, they find themselves in jail, for "journalism crimes", basically not agreeing with everything the Cuban government does. Yet this nation where independent journalists must fear their own government, is not in the Middle East, but only 90 miles from Key West, Florida. Cuban Independent journalists now sit in a dark and damp jail cell, for doing what we do, report. Val Prieto puts what we can do tomorrow best, on the Michelle Malkin Blog, "But tomorrow, as fellow independent journalists, you and I, we, all of us, can be their voices. We can use our own cozy blogs, our personal soapboxes, to help these fellow independent journalists, these now muted but one day when they are free to be future bloggers."

By thepunditblogger

The Lebanese President did an interview with the Shepher Smith a little while ago. He mentioned several different things. He assured Smith that Hezbollah is NOT a foreign force, but a resistence by the Lebanese people and said that it is supported by most of the Lebanese people. I say, fine. Now we know exactly who to go after, the Lebanese people. First he sobs saying that most people in Lebanon are not Hezbollah and talking about the innocent civilian deaths. Then, after a ceasefire, he says that a majority of Lebanon supports Hezbollah. Make up your mind.

Posted at 9:35am on Aug. 16, 2006 Problem I have With Congressional Criticism

By thepunditblogger

I have a problem with some Congressional criticism of the President. All I hear in political commercials, candidate speeches and campaign, is criticism of the President. Now, of course I have NO problem whatsoever with some criticism of the President or criticism where it's due. However, candidates now make it their primary platform. For example, Jimmy Carters son, Jack Carter, recently won the primary in Nevada. He will face off with the incumbent, Sen. John Ensign, R-Nevada, in November. His main charge on his opponent? His opponent likes President Bush. "You know, he's voted for the Bush administration 96 percent of the time," Carter said.

Posted at 12:42am on Aug. 16, 2006 NWA Audacity

By thepunditblogger

Northwest Airlines had the audacity to send out a booklet to its workers, most of whom had their pay cut and some of whom will get fired, telling them how to save money. Among some of the daring suggestions include shopping at thrift stores, digging in the garbage and taking their dates for walks in the woods instead of out to dinner or to the movies. To top it all off, NWA itself admitted that some of the suggestion were insensitive.

Posted at 9:34pm on Aug. 10, 2006 Reutergate Underestimated?

By thepunditblogger

Reutergate. Adnan Hajj. Manipulation of Images. If you haven't heard about it yet, you are either dead or in some remote village in the Amazon, and even then I'm not sure you haven't. Many people blow this off as an "honest mistake" and a one-time thing. Perhaps it was a mistake. Maybe it wasn't. That is still to be determined. However, one thing that seems to be certain is, this is not going to go away anytime soon.
