By RonLewenberg
Most Americans have little to no understanding of the European Union. Founded under tripartite coal and steel trade negotiations, many viewed the EU as a free trade agreement that promotes liberty. Others see it as the European version of the United States. This fundamental misunderstanding has led American Presidents from George HW Bush to his son, to all of the current major candidates for president to support the EU, and in the case of President George W Bush to push for its expansion into Turkey.

Posted at 10:19pm on Feb. 14, 2008 Have Conservatives Failed America?
By RonLewenberg
I don't mean to be a downer, but we've lost. And I don't mean the primary. The popularity of Obama among all groups and the increased support for liberalism and Democrats especially among the youth portend disaster.
Even if Conservatives were to magically retake the GOP, we are losing the country. Although individual conservative ideas are still popular, the American people want the nanny state to protect them, the government to provide or regulate health insurance at magically low cost, increased spending on all sorts of social programs and pork.

Posted at 8:51pm on Sep. 24, 2007 Columbia Conservative Alumni Association Statement on President Ahmadinejad Speaking at Columbia
By RonLewenberg
On Monday, September 24th, Columbia University will host Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. In so doing, the university is extending not a courtesy, but continuing a policy of anti-Israeli and anti-American leftist nihilism under the guise of academic freedom. The Columbia Conservative Alumni Association supports true academic freedom and free speech. Academic Freedom entails having a true range of beliefs allowed, not just those of the center left, far left, and whoever else hates America and the West. Free Speech involves not only accepting the right of a disdainful speaker to come, but also for students and interested parties to peacefully voice their discontent. Given President Ahmadinejhad's statements calling for the destruction of both the US and Israel, Iran's proxy war against the US and our allies, Iran's support for Islamist terrorism, and Iran's continued nuclear program we question the wisdom and moral value of giving this man a forum at Columbia, not the right of President Bollinger to invite him.
