Posted at 9:25am on Jun. 20, 2008 Obama's E-mail List...Then There's Newt's!

By rickreyn

The dems are salivating over Obama's e-mail blackbook http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11187.html, but swelling fast is Newt's Drill Here, Drill Now list, and his goal is 3 million. Why is it that we had the Contract with America and Newt was behind that, and now this campaign which serves as a rallying point for disgruntled conservatives, and the proverbial tea leaves for the President and Congress? Is it that Newt is the only one THINKING out there? May his tribe increase!

Posted at 3:49pm on Feb. 15, 2008 Buck the Conventional, Huck for VP!

By rickreyn

When it's the fourth quarter and the other team is ahead by 30 points up, you can experiment. Grant me some half-baked analysis on McCain's VP choice. If the Maverick could set aside his growing grudge against Huck for not bending over--not going to happen--and thinking for a second that the evangelicals and conservatives and evangelical/conservatives will not put a bag over their heads and pull the lever for McCain anyway allowing him to drift even more to the center--will happen--wouldn't Huck inject a little personality, humor and some proven vote fetching ability that could improve our chances against The Chosen One in November? I venture to say that Huck would win his VP debate and charm many thousands, and I venture to say that he would lock-step with McCain and articulately shred Obama--if he's The One--on the trail, but with Christian kindness, sincerity and subtlety.

Posted at 11:27am on Feb. 13, 2008 The "Old Coot" vs. "The Messiah"

By rickreyn

"Who needs a weird old coot with a short fuse in the White House? This isn't a smart game plan for the war on terror." Camille Paglia http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/2008/02/13/political_wars/

It's started. The one-time media darling now delivers his "straight" talk from a wheel chair. His staff makes sure to keep him drool free. Get used to descriptive terms such as "curmudgeon" as the race warms up with the Big O. In rancorous debate with the "pant suit" our standard bearer was geared well, but he's entirely unblessed as a "messianic" figure. Let's hope that the Clinton machine can solve this problem before it's too late.

Posted at 10:56am on Feb. 7, 2008 Is McCain Man Enough to Beat Hillary?

By rickreyn

We all know about Hillary's mean streak and foul mouth. We know she "war rooms" anyone who might get in her path, including Secret Service agents. Can McCain withstand Hillary's pillory? Will he go for the jugular? You always want to hire the meanest, shrewdest lawyer in the yellow pages when you're in a legal pinch. Will McCain be the junkyard dog he needs to be to take on Clinton, Inc.

I don't even want to think about the Obama scenario.

Posted at 8:34am on Feb. 6, 2008 The New World Order...

By rickreyn

It looks very possible...let me restate that...it is inevitable that we will be governed by a left of center senator who will have won without "red states" and "right wingers." Mouthpieces like Limbaugh and Hannity can talk themselves blue in the face and it will do no good. The great shift to the left has occurred on their watch, despite their handwringing. The fact that a black guy with a Muslim-sounding name without a record of leading anything with a measly two years of legislative experience is in strong contention says it all.

Posted at 5:38pm on Nov. 12, 2006 Top Dogs or Lap Dogs...What Will it Be?

By rickreyn

What can one lone wolf do now that the Democrats have captured the hen house? I was thinking of what I could do--as one man--to wrestle control back from those weasels. I am reminded of the war movie hero who pops out of the fox hole with guns blazing yelling "you shot my buddy," only to be cut down by a barrage of bullets himself. I must be smart about this to be effective, and I must be sly as fox.

Posted at 12:50am on Nov. 10, 2006 George Bush: The Great Capitulator

By rickreyn

Perhaps it's his frat boy preoccupation with staying cozy with everyone that drove Mr. Bush to capitulate on almost every bill to come down the pike. Was there anyone he could not work with? Ted Kennedy on education. Come on! Sure he's tough as nails on the war, but now he's thrown Rumsfield under the bus. Why not wait a few hours? No, he's offered up to appease the freshly coronated Madam President.

By rickreyn

http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=newsOne&storyID=2006...

I was curious to get my morning update from Reuters and no election news. Very curious. I dug for this article which points to a possible Republican ace in the hole. I work on the premise that the polls often express the wishful thinking of the polling entities. Reality will set in on election day.

Posted at 9:42am on Nov. 2, 2006 Evangelicals Galvanized Despite Speculation and Polls

By rickreyn

I am a card-carrying right-wing evangelical attending one of the largest--if not the largest--Baptist church in Tampa. No one I talk to is anything but enthusiastic about pulling the lever--make that pushing the screen--for Republicans down the line. No one I talk to is flagging in support, waning in intensity, softening in commitment, etc. Evangelicals, the religious right, are by biblical definition, going about their own business, paying taxes to whom they are due, obeying laws, working with their hands, serving the disadvantaged, confronting evil with good.
