By Dean
-- not that anyone cares. And I know this type of diary entry doesn't conform with the diary guidelines. But I haven't been to RedState since February and I felt like making a return visit in search of stimulating conversation; so here I am, and "Hi".
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised to find my account still active. Even my old comments are still saved. I thought they might have been deleted. I'm glad they're there -- they're "works of art". ;)

Posted at 2:07pm on Feb. 3, 2005 Iraqi National Anthem
By Dean
At the end of FNC's 'Special Report with Brit Hume' Sunday and Monday, they showed a slideshow of photos from the Iraqi election while playing the Iraqi national anthem in the background. The music is catchy and touching - it fits the spirit of the emotion of the election. Does anyone know how I can get a copy of the Iraqi national anthem as a .MIDI file? (another file format might do - I like midi files because they're small in size.)

Posted at 12:15am on Feb. 2, 2005 I Love Zell
By Dean
I admit it -- I love Zell Miller. I love everything he says. (I live in his home-state Georgia, but that has nothing to do with it.)
Tonight (Tue, 1 Feb) on Fox News Channel (with Sean Hannity), everything that Zell Miller said was quotable. I'd like to get a copy if it's possible. Even if it means getting a video and transcribing it myself -- it was worth it.
Do you know how I can get a transcript of what was said? (free, preferably)
Thanks.

By Dean
Is it just me or was anyone else bored by the so-called debate #2 last night? It wasn't a debate; it was a joint news conference. None of the debates are debates for that matter, but that's another discussion.

Posted at 11:05am on Oct. 1, 2004 A poll we can believe
By Dean
Promoted from Diaries.
I grow wary of hearing all this talk about who won the debate last night. Are the people of this country going to choose our next President based on which candidate spoke the most eloquently? I certainly hope not. Maybe Kerry performed well in the debate but what really matters is who gets elected on November 2nd.
What we need is a highly scientific poll that tells us which candidate people are going to vote for while taking into account last night's debate. So I did some research to find out who the betting community thinks will win. When people put money on the line they're more likely to be tuned in to the 'pulse of the people' as compared to the questionable information pollsters get over the telephone.

Posted at 1:13am on Sep. 28, 2004 4 Days of George W
By Dean
This is a big week for watching television. President Bush will be on TV 4 nights in a row: Mon, Tue, and Wed on the Fox News Channel with Bill O'Reilly, then Thu for the debate. It's good timing on his part to have a build-up like that. I'm excited about watching the debate and the interviews should be interesting.

Posted at 10:26am on Sep. 22, 2004 Why is the anti-Bush crowd so anti-War?
By Dean
The War on Terror
When the planes flew into the towers 3 years ago we all knew without a doubt that our country was under attack. And for a short while we all came together, united across party lines, in our determination to defend ourselves. Then somewhere in there the anti-Bush crowd emerged with their politicizing of the war as a way to get him out of office. It amazes me that these people have lost sight of the danger we're in -- we're still at war and we're not immune to another attack. So first we went to Afganistan, then to Iraq. And here we are. War is ugly and terrible. Killing is a hellish nightmare. But I believe it's necessary today because we're acting in self-defense. It's a matter of survival.
Weapons of mass destruction? Bush didn't lie -- you aren't lying when you believe what you are saying is true. Besides, British intelligence did tell him those things. And finally, WMDs have been found: they've found warheads with enough sarin gas and mustard gas to kill ~500,000+ people. I don't know all of the connections between Iraq and the "bad guys", and I don't want to know. I want our government intelligence forces to keep some of their information secret. They shouldn't broadcast everything they know for all the world to hear -- they need some sort of advantage. It's their job to know what's best to do, and I trust them with the details, because Bush has consistently acted with sincerity and honesty. Kerry has not. It's a no-brainer, really. Which brings me back to being incredulous that nearly half of our country "doesn't get it."
Why is the anti-Bush crowd so anti-war? Why don't they understand that this is a matter of self survival? Why this "Democratic manic obsession to bring down our commander in chief"?

Posted at 4:17pm on Sep. 21, 2004 Civil War Brewing in Iraq?
By Dean
Does anyone know the name of the general who was a guest on The O'Reilly Factor last night? He had some interesting things to say, and he seemed to know what he's talking about. He served in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and he returns to visit Iraq about once a month. He (supposedly) knows what's going on over there. He said there's a 40% chance that there will be a civil war in Iraq within the next few months unless something is done ASAP.

Posted at 9:16pm on Sep. 17, 2004 Do I Really Need to Vote? Won't Bush Win Anyway?
By Dean
Now that the polls show George Bush ahead with such a large lead -- 5 to 12% depending on the poll, isn't the race over? Isn't it a sure bet that Bush will win with only 45 days to go in the campaign? Surely John Kerry can't make a significant comeback now. And therefore, do I even need to vote on November 2nd?
