Posted at 12:42am on Feb. 18, 2007 The Iraq Argument Needs A Makeover

By Tenniru

Is it me, or has the ability of the most prominent conservatives to argue that the Iraq War is worth fighting turned into pathetic whimpering?

I've watched Tony Snow, George Bush, and Dick Cheney defend the Iraq War using adjectives without basing them on anything. They're based on something, but they don't point that out. "Significant progress", "worth it", "we shouldn't retreat", none of these things seem to make sense to liberals or others alone. The argument between Bush and the average liberal is "Why do we stay?" "We've made progress." "Where?" "I can't tell you because I'm on the other side of the television set and no reporter will open that door for me."

By Tenniru

Until the middle of 2006, I considered myself a liberal. Then, as the 2006 midterm elections came around, I discovered a great site called RealClearPolitics. Trying to put together a few pro-liberal arguments by looking at conservative blogs linked from there, I was shocked to realize that I agreed with half of what I saw.
I learned a lot about the average liberal (or at least how they were seen) by looking at blogs like this one, and then I realized I wasn't one. I wouldn't call myself a conservative either; I've been loosely calling myself a centrist, although I still get my feathers ruffled at the common belief that liberals are America's enemies. From what I remember of being a liberal, I believe they'd fight to defend the same idea of America that conservatives would; it's just that liberals don't think that America is in as much danger.

By Tenniru

This morning, circutboards with LED lights and cameras on them were found hanging all over Boston in public places. Others were detected in several other cities. There was no indication as to what they were, and suddenly it became a bomb scare. Boston was in a panic as bomb squads tried to cover every device found. The mayor of Boston pledges an investigation and jailtime for the perpetrators.

Posted at 6:14pm on Jan. 30, 2007 The Other Stakes Of Retreat

By Tenniru

I used to be against the Iraq war. I thought the reasons for entry were wrong (actually, I still do) and I assumed that justified leaving. I dismissed "training ground for terrorists" as so much right-wing extremist crap (I don't dismiss it as such now, but I suspect if we leave it'll be too chaotic even for terrorists... read below.)

Then I read a very enlightening post on a blog whose name I have long since forgot, linked to by everyone's favorite website RealClearPolitics.

Posted at 3:12pm on Jan. 6, 2007 Hypothetical Political Scenario: Legal Aliens From Space

By Tenniru

I fear for the mental health and blood pressure of all at RedState. If the right's reaction to being shoved out of power is anything like the left's, I imagine veins are already bulging and brains ready to combust. I've decided to chose this time to post a fascinating hypothetical scenario to get our minds off of the current inhabitants of Capitol Hill.

My intention is to stir up some debate, get reactions, and more or less learn something about this situation.
