I want to live in a country where children don't die on the street. Or to be more realistic, as few as we can manage without undoing all of the benefits of capitalism. Why do I bring this up? It is emblematic of the underpinnings of my philosophy about what the government is for. Providing and enforcing rule of law? - Absolutely. Defense of our borders and interests abroad? - Yes again. But lets talk honestly about the poor.
