I've had enough. I can listen to the nonsense no longer. We are on the brink of disaster. This is a plea for us all to step away from the ledge.
We are on the brink of disaster, but we have not yet fallen into the yawning chasm of socialism before us. I am tired of hearing the whining, complaining and finger pointing. What I'd like to see is some problem solving and maybe even a little common sense and intelligence applied to the problem.

By Hooah Mac
This is the diary that I am sure 80% of those of you who know me thought would never be written, and the other 20% would never have expected this soon.
I am an American Soldier. An Army Reservist with one tour in Iraq under my belt. I have been a Reservist for just over three years, and I have been on Active Duty for almost 2 of those years. Although today I sit in a skyscraper in Minneapolis working for a corporation, tomorrow could see me back on the battlefield.

Posted at 4:55pm on Jan. 22, 2008 My official goodbye
By Hooah Mac
I have been posting here at Redstate for just under a year. My first introduction to the site was reading a post by skanderberg about Iraq and Guadalcanal. It was the intelligent, well-thought out, accurate and conservative content like his that made me feel at home here from the start. He is by far not the only one who I could describe in such a manner. I have been relatively happy with the site in most cases since then.

Posted at 6:38pm on Jan. 9, 2008 Dealing with Earmarks
By Hooah Mac
Many of you have been looking for a candidate to take on this battle, here is Fred -
"Yesterday, Fred spoke out on Congress’ excessive spending. Their latest trick is to stick thousands of earmarks into committee conference reports instead of the actual bill. They’re called “soft” earmarks. John Campbell points out the Congressional Research Service “stated that earmarks placed into committee reports do not have the force of law.” Fred asked President Bush to only fund earmarks that are actually in the spending bills. That’s common sense to you and me."

By Hooah Mac
Check out this link -
How some of America's Finest feel about Fred!
You will find that many of my fellow OIF and OEF veterans are excited about Fred Thompson. There is a reason for that. On average, we joined willingly, knowing that we were going to war. We joined because we love this country and all that it stands for. Fred Thompson's principles are the embodiment of that.

Posted at 4:05pm on Nov. 20, 2007 Laying it all out (Romneybots, Rudybots, Huckabots, Fredheads and McCainiacs - Convince me)
By Hooah Mac
I believe I represent the average Republican voter, or at least a significant slice of the R base. My positions - in no particular order - are as follows:
Immigration - Amnesty is a deal breaker. If they are here illegally and we come into contact with them, send them home.
Iraq - We were winning, we are winning, and we will win. The various pitfalls and difficulties that we have had do not equal defeat. We need a President to stand firm, and to fire all the traitors(I am not using this word lightly) in the State Department and the CIA who have actively sabotaged the war and President Bush for political gain.

Posted at 2:55am on Nov. 12, 2007 Why I am optimistic about 2008
By Hooah Mac
Ground Rules - Only optimistic posts are welcome on this thread, use the rest of the site to be negative if you want.
For those wanting to be positive, comment on my positives, or add your own.
1. Iraq is going well
2. Economy is still strong (if we could only find a way to get people to notice. It is instructive that people answering polls overwhelming are positive about their personal finances but negative about the economy.)

Posted at 7:40pm on Nov. 7, 2007 Lunch and Politics After Church
By Hooah Mac
I know that the plural of anecdote isn't data, but I still want to bring this to everyone's attention.
On Sunday, my wife and I were invited to dinner after church. When we arrived it was a small gathering of 10 people including us. The conversation after dinner was great, and politics came up.
The following thoughts represent the consensus of the church going, politcally active Baptists I was talking with.

Posted at 2:11am on Oct. 10, 2007 Big Tent-What does that mean
By Hooah Mac
After going a few rounds in one of the other diaries, (and everyone knows which one) about SoCons and their unwillingness to abide a Rudy candidacy, I feel the need to clarify my position. I am very hopeful that working this out will make us stronger, but we need to get along.
Every single one of our candidates has strong points. If I could work through them like the chubby guy grazing at the buffet I would take bits and pieces from all of them. That isn't exactly an option, an would be rather messy as well. In case you missed it, I am explicitly saying that this includes the one who shall remain nameless.

Posted at 9:36pm on Oct. 3, 2007 Welcome Congressional GOP
By Hooah Mac
I am not a bigwig here at Redstate, but I post from time to time. I am a Republican, I vote, I volunteer and I give campaign contributions. I think I can safely say I speak for many here just like me when I say thank you to those congressmen and congresswomen that have stopped by Redstate recently. We appreciate it, and we are a big part of your base. Come by more often, and make sure to read the blogs here when you get some time.
