Posted at 12:31am on Mar. 24, 2008 Why do Democrats raise taxes?
By jmorganti
There's an old addage in the Republican party - When you tax something, you get less of it. Carol Shea-Porter, liberal Democrat from New Hampshire, explains why this addage is true.
SHEA-PORTER: And the most important thing was [the bill] was not going to raise tax payers money at all, at all. we were doing it with tobacco, taxing tobacco.
LAURA KNOY: So if you smoke you do
SHEA-PORTER: Yes, yes if you smoked. However, we also know that when we raise the tax on tobacco, new smokers don't show up in the same large numbers.

Posted at 12:28am on Feb. 6, 2008 Two facts that brought me to join the Republican Party
By jmorganti
A registered independent and supporter of progressive Howard Dean in 2004, I joined the Republican party last March, not exclusively, but in large measure because of these two undeniable facts - Tax revenues are up, and tax rates are down.
Yes, that's right. Overall tax revenues have increased 77% under the oft maligned Bush tax policy, and corporations are paying more taxes while fewer people paid taxes..

Posted at 12:17am on Jan. 26, 2008 McCain is the only hero in the race
By jmorganti
John McCain is a genuine hero. Who would you rather send to the White House? Average Jane or John McCain, an American hero?
John McCain will deliver two things with his presidency - victory in Iraq and a balanced budget. McCain is a leading opponent of pork project spending, voted against Medicare Part D, voted consistently against tax hikes, and is the only one I trust to control spending.
I was born and raised in New Hampshire, and I love our country and our state. Don't make a mistake Florida. Our children need John McCain's strength and conviction.
On January 26th, please vote for John McCain, the only Republican in the race that can win the White House.

By jmorganti
This excerpt from Al Gore's 1992 presidential stump speech best summarizes the first half of the 110th Congress.
Under Democrat leadership:
"Unemployment around the country has gone up
The number of jobs has gone down
The trade deficit has gone up
Personal income has gone down
The budget deficit has gone up
Consumer confidence has gone down
Poverty has gone up
The number of jobs has gone down

The lights are off and the surround sound is filled with the Democrat "100 Club" dinner. There is jack daniels in the glass, and I'll be damned if Barack Obama doesn't sound like a winner.
After watching the dinner tonight, there is no doubt that New Hampshire Democrats are going to elect Barack Obama.

John McCain may be on the wrong side of the illegal immigration debate, but amnesty legislation will never get through the United States Senate.
So smile, rejoice, and vote for John McCain.
