Posted at 4:09pm on May 14, 2008 Time for a radical, new plan to defeat liberalism
By mhgoldwing1
Let's face facts. We are losing the daily battles to liberal incrementalism on every front. Why? Too many reasons to discuss and besides, they've been covered in detail for several years now. So, let's dispense with the analysis and move forward with a radical, new plan that will ensure conservative victory in the long term.
Here's the plan. In the general elections in 2008, let's put all our efforts into electing the most liberal, wacky Democrats we can find. Starting with Barack Obama at the top, let's give him a House and Senate that will bestow his every wish.

Posted at 1:58pm on Nov. 10, 2007 Get ready for the next black market.
By mhgoldwing1
Congress is once again proposing additional Federal cigarette taxes amounting to $.65 per pack. This will bring the total Federal tax to $1.00 per pack.
Whether you are a smoker or not, this one is going to bite you in the wallet. Why? Because Congress and several states are proposing to fund SCHIP with these taxes. As a smoker, I can tell you cigarette prices are approaching a level that will create a black market. This will dramatically curtail cigarette tax revenue at the Federal and state levels. Additionally, the reduction in number of smokers forced to quit will also reduce revenue.

By mhgoldwing1
I keep reading on many different sites statements by Republicans who are ready to throw in the towel with our party. While I also am not happy with much of the Bush administration's decisions and congress persons' antics, not voting in '08 at any level, local, state or federal is not the way to remedy the problem.
All Republicans need to get engaged in the political process now, maybe more than ever. If we stand on the sidelines and permit the Dems to take control of all three branches it will take years to straighten out the mess they can create in four. The Dems are already telegraphing future plans and I don't see anything I like; increased capital gains taxes, increasing personal taxes, fairness doctrine, immigration, Supreme Court nominees, ad infinitum. If you think you're unhappy with Bush, pray tell how will you feel if Hilary, Obama or the Breck Girl takes office in Jan. '09?

By mhgoldwing1
This is a way citizens can have a major impact on the war on terror and its sponsors. Makes sense to me. Money is the mainstay and cutting off any resources increases the chances we can stymie their progress.

Posted at 6:39am on Mar. 26, 2007 Love Newt but he has no chance
By mhgoldwing1
of becoming president. According to every poll I've seen his negative numbers are higher than Hillary's. That's going some. I admire Newt for his ideas, intelligence, and foresight but, he is not electable. I wish he would announce he is not running and quit drawing support and finances away from candidates who do have a chance to win.

By mhgoldwing1
Take a look at this excellent article. Pretty well sums up the reasons FDT just might be what we need. And, he can beat any Dem candidate that might possibly win their primary.

By mhgoldwing1
Ok, I supported GWB 100% until I realized he has lost his backbone. His administration since day one has neglected to use the bully pulpit to ward off the Dems and MSM. Instead, they keep silent and then play defense. You don't win if you don't score. And the 2006 elections are the result.
The Gonzales mess is just the latest episode in what has become a quagmire of silence. Pick a subject, any subject, and this White House has basically avoided the serious fights.

Posted at 12:01pm on Mar. 10, 2007 How the illegal immigrant turnstyle works
By mhgoldwing1
Many people simply do not understand how the illegal immigrant turnstyle on our southern border works. Here is a first-hand account showing how the IE's use this turnstyle on a daily basis.
My experience was in Houston, Texas. Many oilfield service firms hire illegals, both knowingly and unknowingly, because they make good employees. However, even after background checks they turn out to be illegal. I witnessed several raids by the INS.

Posted at 7:33am on Feb. 23, 2007 McCain is off my radar screen
By mhgoldwing1
Like most Americans, I do not relish nor wallow in hard details of candidates but take a more wide angled view.
McCain's stance on global warming and immigration have removed him from my radar screen as potential presidential candidate. He is not consertive and stands on quicksand.
How I wish the Iron Lady was American and running for president during her prime years!
