Posted at 10:15am on May 20, 2008 McCain to offer distinction on Cuba policy
By Brandozilla
John McCain is set to give a speech today in Miami, discussing US policy toward Cuba.
With Fidel reportedly still on his deathbed, Cuba policy will be a hot issue this summer and fall.
McCain's remarks will include the following:
Tyranny will not forever endure, and as president, I will not passively await the day when the Cuban people enjoy the blessings of freedom and democracy. It is in our national interest to support their aspirations and oppose those of the Castro regime, one that harbors fugitives from U.S. justice, expresses unrelenting hostility to America, and shoots down unarmed civilian aircraft.

Posted at 3:47pm on Apr. 24, 2008 Obama Raising Cash and the Dead
By Brandozilla
Actor Roy Scheider has been able to overcome his status of being dead and donate some cash to Obama's campaign. Here is the scoop.
Sen. Barack Obama does come from the Chicago school of politics, where historically voter turnout has been unusually high for residents of certain graveyards. And he has been unusually successful raising money.Actor Roy Scheider in his Jaws role as the local policeman He died Feb. 10 at the age of 75 but somehow one month later donated $50 to the presidential campaign of Illinois Democratic Senator Barack Obama of Chicago

Minnesota: McCain vs. Obama
McCain 38, Obama 52, Und 10 Obama +14
It looks like Obama is very strong here. Does anyone really think that Tim Pawlenty would help cover a 14 point gap?
I've been reading recently that Pawlenty might be at the top of McCain's list.
Minnesota: McCain vs. Clinton
McCain 42, Clinton 47, Und 11 Clinton +5

By Brandozilla
Chelsea has apparently been out courting the gay vote on the streets of Philly for her mother. This article contained too much goodness to ignore.
Chelsea Clinton stopped traffic Friday night as she wandered the streets of Philadelphia on a gay bar crawl, winning rave reviews for both her politics and her appearance.

Posted at 12:00am on Apr. 14, 2008 Fordham Professor Agrees with Obama; I am in fact bitter.
By Brandozilla
As if we didn't need more evidence of the elitism evident in Obama's stateme4nts last week, a Fordham professor and author, Paul Levinson has also decided that I am bitter.
Why should working families having trouble making ends meet take offense at a Presidential candidate recognizing that they may be feeling bitter? That's a normal human reaction, and ignoring or denying it - as Clinton and McCain are doing - is plain hypocrisy.

Posted at 4:22pm on Apr. 11, 2008 Obama explains why small towns in the midwest don't like him
By Brandozilla
Promoted by Adam C because elitism is hard to hide for 9 months of campaigning...
Barack Obama, in an attempt to explain the small town resentment towards him, had this to say:
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them...And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

Posted at 11:44am on Apr. 10, 2008 McCain needs to get behind new GI Bill
By Brandozilla
John McCain must get behind Jim Webb's and Chuck Hagel's new GI Bill, both for political reasons and more importantly because it is the right thing to do.
The bill, put forth as the first step in making "A 21st Century GI Bill," would give veterans who qualified tuition for a full four years of college, as well as a stipend for books and living expenses. Currently, veterans are covered by the Montgomery GI bill, which requires that troops pay $100 a month during their service, which then qualifies them for around $800 per month for college tuition. As Webb and Hagel pointed out in an op-ed last year, that barely covers courses and books at many community colleges, let alone a state school or private university.

Posted at 9:40am on Apr. 7, 2008 Alan Greenspan Endorses John McCain
By Brandozilla
Alan Greenspan, the U.S. Fed chairman from 1987 to 2006 has endorsed John McCain for President. Stating the following:
"I'm Republican and I support John McCain, who I know very well and who I respect a lot," he said.
The ironic thing here, of course is that Greenspan was Hilary's husband Bill's choice to be Fed chairman through two terms, and Hilary's own recent choice to chair a special advisory committee on the sub prime mortgage crisis.
