Mitt Romney on America's Newsroom this morning
Hemmer: Alot of people are writing about how much damage is being done to Democrats. Do you believe that?
Romney: It is hard to tell how much real damage has been done because it is so early. Both Democrats are trying to convince us that the other is unelectable, and I agree with both of them.
Hemmer: I know you were with John McCain last week. Did you talk much about the economy? Alot of people think it is a sore spot for him.

Ive been waiting for this -- I know McCain is a funny guy. I think he can do better than this though. Perhaps McCain's jokes are better when they are not scripted.

By Michelle Oddis
Check out these 'Wright Questions' -- They are the questions Obama should have been answering all along but avoided ever so gracefully (45 minute speech that had nothing to do with the reason he was giving the speech). He knows hes donzo if he gets stuck trying to answer even one.

A few months ago I blogged about “Stop Loss” an anti war/anti military film that focuses on the militaries involuntary stop loss recruitment Stop-Loss policy. Stop Loss will be out in theaters this Friday. “You Fought for America, You Gave Everything...They Want More,” boasts the trailer for the film promoted by MTV Films.

Posted at 11:26am on Feb. 19, 2008 Show Me The Money: Calculate Your Rebate
By Michelle Oddis
Rep. Walberg posted this blog today that includes many of the details I've been asked lately about rebates. The folks back home rarely contact me to ask about politics -- but when it comes to a check in their pocket -- you can bet they all want to know more.
Here are some of the facts put put out by Walberg Legislative Office.
The Basics for Tax Rebate Checks
· Most single taxpayers will get a rebate of $600.
· Most married couples who file jointly will get $1,200.
· Plus, you’ll get an extra $300 for each child under age 17 for whom you claim a child credit on your 2007 return.
· Low income seniors and disabled veterans (and their widows) who don’t owe enough income tax to qualify for the full rebate can qualify for checks of $300, or $600 if they filed joint returns.
These checks will be sent automatically, so no application form is necessary, as 2007 income will be used. CLICK HERE FOR THE CALCULATOR

"My Friends" Im in Need
By Michelle Oddis
The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is one-stop shopping for presidential candidates. It’s the one time every year that they can guarantee themselves the attention of more movement conservatives than at any other single gathering.
For years, Sen. John McCain has been noticeable by his absence. This year he’s not only coming, his campaign has bought a display booth in the exhibition hall.
McCain will address the conference on Thursday at 3 pm. He’ll follow Gov. Mitt Romney who will speak at 12:30pm. (Cong. Ron Paul is scheduled for 4:30 pm. Only Gov. Mike Huckabee hasn’t yet told CPAC he’d be there.)
McCain’s absence in earlier years is probably explainable by his attitude towards conservatives, which they have reflected right back at him. John McCain blew off CPAC last year. He came in last in the Presidential Straw Poll with only 12%. Mitt Romney came in first with 21%. McCain’s name was actually booed by the crowd of conservatives at several moments during the three-day program.
David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, host of CPAC since 1974 said ...

Posted at 8:51pm on Jan. 29, 2008 “My Friends" in Florida: The Military Vote
By Michelle Oddis
South Carolina exit polls showed that 25% of Republican voters are vets. Of that 25%, 36% voted for McCain, 29% for Huck, and only 17% for Romney.
Here is some more food for thought on the military vote in Florida:
There are 52,000 active duty personnel in Florida, and 1.75 million veterans (second only to California's 2.2 million).
30.7% of the 1.75 million vets are Vietnam era vets.
Just last week 40% of absentee ballots had been accounted for, many of these could be active duty military.
McCain will take these votes. He has been dragging around Col. George "Bud Day" a legendary war hero while he campaigns.
Byron York writes in his column today "they admire McCain as a war hero and a wartime leader. For them — many are veterans — that’s the most important thing of all."
Bottom line -- RINO or not -- he’s a POW and he’s got their vote.

By Michelle Oddis
Columnist Meghan Cox Gurdon has a great op-ed in the Washington Examiner today. Her explanation of Thompson’s campaign style is quite convincing.
When you think about all the phony baloney speeches, guitar playing, and jogging with reporters – Fred’s lax approach is actually starting to appeal to me.
"So a subdued guy like Thompson is puzzling — not because he’s behaving oddly or improperly, but because everyone else is so highly caffeinated."
Read Meghan’s column "Calm is out of style on the hustings".

New Anti-War Film Based on Controversial Stop-Loss Policy
By Michelle Oddis
Last weekend I went to see the new chick flick “P.S. I Love you.”
I was in the mood for romantic cry-fest and studs with Irish accents, but before I got a chance to use my tissues I saw this preview for a new anti-war film called "Stop-Loss." Watch the trailer...
