Mitt, as a Thompson guy, I'm begging you to stand up...
An interesting discussion was taking place over at the Corner, and I somewhat agree with this thought:
One problem Romney has, which I was acutely aware of the other night, is that he comes off just a bit too effete. He is smart and thoughtful. But each time John McCain said something that was smirky or a direct lie, (the business about timetables), after trying to correct it, Mitt's natural inclination was to shoot a plaintive look at the questioners, as if to signal that he and they both knew that McCain was misbehaving. This was entirely redolent of the behavior of the teacher's pet, who always knows the right answer, looking for authority to back him up in an argument with the class bully. But if you are president you have to be the authority, and you had better be able to slay the dragon right there and then, without looking to some offstage authority figure to nod in agreement that you are right. This little bit of body language reinforced whatever it was that McCain's people meant recently when one of them was quoted saying, "Mitt Romney is the kind of guy that John McCain used to beat up at school." (That's a paraphrase.)

The group behind the "Confederate Flag" ad that attacks Governor Mitt Romney and Senator John McCain is called Americans for the Preservation of American Culture, or APAC. The group is headed by a man named Ron Wilson, who has an interesting history.

By perico
It's a sorry state of affairs when Democrats could decide who wins the Michigan GOP primary.
Jim Geraghty gives his take at NRO:
There are also Michigan Republicans who’d prefer that their primary not be swamped by crossover Democrats. These GOPers have a few unexpected allies: Senator Carl Levin and Congressman John Conyers are touting “Detroiters for Uncommitted Voters.” Conyers and his wife, Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers, will begin airing radio ads this week urging voters to cast their ballots for uncommitted.

Posted at 6:41pm on Jan. 12, 2008 Accepting Joe Carter's Challenge: Huckabee
By perico
After publishing two posts that were critical of Huckabee over the last two days, I was not planning on doing another one, but like a bad case of diarrea, Joe Carter pulls me back in, making a challenge to "put up or hush up" about Mike Huckabee's liberal tendencies.

And They Attack Him For It... Blowing Off Steam, Throwing Sharp Elbows, and Running Against the Mainstream
"If what people really want in their president is a super type A personality, someone who has gotten up every morning and gone to bed every night and been thinking about, for years how they can be president of the United States... someone who can look you straight in the eye and say they've enjoyed every minute of campaigning... I ain't that guy.

By perico
A little history here from the September 12, 2000, courtesy of CNN:
Republican presidential nominee George W. Bush said Tuesday he was "convinced" an ad placed by the Republican National Committee that flashes the word "RATS" over a Gore prescription drug proposal was not intended to send a subliminal message.

Posted at 2:47pm on Dec. 30, 2007 Hypocrites, criminalizing women, abortion, Huckabee
By perico
After all the grief given to Fred Thompson by those about his views on abortion. After how we heard time after time that since Fred Thompson said that he wouldn't throw "young girls in prison" on MTP he wasn't a true pro life candidate, and Mike Huckabee was the only pure candidate because abortion is murder, I hope those people tuned into Meet the Press this morning.
Pro-Huckabee bloggers were in an absolute tizzy. He (insert Thompson, Romney) doesn't want to throw the young girls or their doctors in jail. They think abortion is not murder. They petitioned the NRTL to withhold their support of the group for endorsing Thompson, linking to the MTP transcript.

Your typical Poli-Hack
hacks... The type of reporters that I can't stand. You know the ones I'm talking about? The ones who think that with one swoop of the pen (or keyboard), they can shape public opinion to their own little view. The type of reporter usually writes some lame crap about a candidate, then snorts like Steve Urkel, and says to himself, "Boy, I'm so good."
