By coachfess
I am just thing out loud here so please enlighten me on some of his positions. However, it seems to me that the Democrats could regain their party back from the over the top liberals and fix many of our nations problems in one shot by nominating him at a brokered convention.
Would he be against drilling for oil in our own country and building new refineries? Especially, when this issue is presented within the context of National Security. Would he be against reforming SS and Medicare? What are his views on taxes? Would he be able to lead on immigration enforcement and border security? Again, if framed within the context of National Security. What kind of judges would he nominate? Will he do his best to keep this country safe in the GWOT? Or are all of these issues strictly on the shoulders of Conservatives? How likely is it that a Republican president could accomplish such things with a Democrat congress? I am not saying he would attempt to do all of this but wouldn’t there be a very good chance? Maybe I am naïve but it just seems like a great opportunity for the Democrats (especially Reagan Democrats) to take their party back and actually get some positive things done for this Country. Sure it would be the Democrats getting all of the credit but I am to the point as I believe many other Americans are that I don't care which party gets the credit. I just want these problems addressed and fixed.

By coachfess
I don’t know if you read in the news recently about the third graders planning to attack their teacher. I hope that no one was shocked. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that ever since God was kicked out of our public schools in 1962 the culture has steadily decreased and lately rapidly so. I bring to you an opportunity to do something about it. An organization founded in 1953 called Christian Educators Association International.

Seems to me if Republicans want to win in November they need to unite behind one candidate. There is only one candidate whom every Republican can unite behind and that is Fred Thompson. The bottom line is all the other Republican candidates have a great capacity to fracture this party. We are going to be in a major battle over the following year because the Democrats are highly energized. Please honestly think about it. The only and I mean only way we have a shot at winning is to be united behind one candidate. Since the only negative about Fred Thompson out there is that he lacks an energetic persona (a characteristic of some deep thinkers), then there must be little to nothing negative about his policies that he has put forth. As a matter of fact, how many times have we heard in debates from other candidates that they agree with Fred? If we happen to lose in November, I would rather lose being united in our conservative beliefs and policies than divided because some fraction of the GOP will feel alienated and possibly stay home.

Could this be a ticket that would bring a lot of unification to the Republican Party? It seems that in the (unofficial Redstate blog poll) the other day these men were a majority of people's 1 and 2 either way. I admit that Fred is my guy but I also like much about Mitt. Many reservations that myself and others have about Mitt could be put to rest if he were a VP for 8 years. It would be a great opportunity for the American people to get to know him. He would also be working with a strong conservative and it would be a chance to tune up those conservative credentials. This could possibly lead to an incredible 16 years of conservative governance. I can see it now being referred to as the "Golden Age of Conservatism".

Posted at 11:39am on Dec. 6, 2007 Does Huckabee surge help Thompson?
By coachfess
Regarding the recent poll numbers; are candidates losing people to Huckabee or are these people that were undecided to begin with? If they are people who have left other candidates then what happens to them if Huckabee does not survive the scrutiny he is about to endure? Do they go back to their original candidate or do they go back to shopping around? Of course this depends on whether Huckabee survives the on-coming storm or not.

Giuliani is viewed favorably by 49%, unfavorably by 49% (very unfavorably by 22%).
Thompson is now viewed favorably by 47%, unfavorably by 37%. Seventeen percent (17%) are Not Sure yet of their opinion of him. Those are his best ratings of the campaign season.

Now that is one dynamic ticket. I have goose bumps just thinking about it. Can you imagine these two men debating any democrat counterpart? If this ends up actually being a ticket the democrat party would take generations to recover.

Posted at 11:07am on May 9, 2007 A Selfish Perspective: Mr. Fred Thompson Please Run for My Family’s Sake
By coachfess
My wife and I are two public school teachers. She teaches theater and I teach biology as well as coach football. Hardly political gurus, just two Americans very concerned about their country. Here are some bullets on why we want Mr. Thompson to run:
• We recognize the fact that we are in the middle of WWIII. This country needs to continue with the resolve and steadfastness that George Bush has demonstrated in this fight. George Bush has been excellent in the endeavor but has not communicated it very well to the American people. If he did his poll numbers would not be so low. It is very important that the next President stay on the same course and able to communicate the absolute importance of that course to the American people, everyday if need be. We are truly in a battle for civilization and a majority of Americans must begin to understand this. As of now they do not but in my opinion with Mr. Thompson’s style of communication they will. Two other countries in Europe come to mind with their recent elections. If the French can begin to understand this, then I know the American people can.
