Posted at 12:48am on Jun. 8, 2007 Conservative Activism

By Holly

Not too long ago, I remember reading a post in which the author made the point that the liberals were better activists.

I hope we all see that's not really the case tonight.

Activism takes many forms. For us, many times, it's in a note on a letter back to the RNC refusing to give money until a certain something happens (like the immigration bill dies, to use a recent example). Other times, it's in calling our Senators or Congressperson. Sometimes it's in blogging about an issue, or talking with friends so they're caught up to speed on an issue that's caught your attention, prompting them to tell others.

Posted at 12:56am on May 26, 2007 Michael Moore Syndrome at the AP

By Holly

Occasionally, when checking a Yahoo! mail account that I have, I read the top headlines of the day, which are posted in a neat little blue box on the front page of the mail. To my surprise, the forth most newsworthy headline this hour is "Castro Blasts Bush About Iraq War Funds".

Yes, folks, this headline is apparently big news that we should be paying attention to, according to the AP and Yahoo!.

Posted at 11:35am on May 25, 2007 Global Warming Hits Tourism

By Holly

Today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution has an article on the effects of global warming on the tourism industry. First, let me state that I do believe in global warming, but I don't think it's man-made. Given the recent study from NASA that show that Mars has had a similar warming trend to Earth's over the past 50 years, I can't believe it's something we induced. Also, in fifth and sixth grade science, we were taught that the Earth goes through warming and cooling processes over time. This is clearly an upward shift.

Posted at 11:30pm on May 21, 2007 Losing Faith

By Holly

Funny. I can remember so vividly being seventeen a volunteering on my first campaign - a race for Congress with a man I'd come to think of as a family member in the eleven following years. It was Charlie Norwood's first bid for re-election, and it was a tough race. I remember staying with Michael Shaffer at the campaign office until seven, eight, nine o'clock, until he'd remind me that I had homework and school in the morning.

Posted at 10:48pm on May 19, 2007 That Immigration. . . Idea?

By Holly

We've all heard a lot recently about the immigration bill that isn't really a bill yet. I don't understand all the provisions - and that's saying a lot. In the past, I've been a constituent representative for a Congressman, and one of the agencies I was assigned was USCIS, which is the new acronym for INS.

Given that I dealt with USCIS every day for two years, you'd think that what Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss said today to those of us at the Georgia GOP Convention would make more sense to me than most, but that wasn't totally the case. I still have questions.

Posted at 10:40pm on May 13, 2007 GA-10 Hart County GOP Debate Audio

By Holly

This is not a huge update, but I did want to link the audio from yesterday morning's GA-10 GOP Debate, hosted by the Hart County Republicans in Hartwell, GA.

There are six candidates, so it may get confusing at times as to who is talking. If you are having trouble figuring out who's who, please post a comment, and I'll try to help you fi

Posted at 11:30am on May 12, 2007 Georgia Congressional District 10

By Holly

I didn't realize that when I signed up at RedState.com that I'd automatically get a blog, but now that I have it, I might as well put it to good use.

Hi, my name is Holly Croft, and I live in Georgia's 10th Congressional District. Back in February, we lost a great Congressman to cancer, Rep. Charles Whitlow (Charlie) Norwood. Back then, I wasn't sure who would enter the race, and I didn't have a horse to bet on. Names were thrown out, and the two that interested me the most, State Rep. Barry Fleming and lawyer Bobby Christine, chose not to pursue the office.
