Spin it as you will but it just shows that Sen. McCain cannot be trusted on Judicial nominations. If we get a President McCain and he nominates another David Souter I'm just going to laugh and think you get what you deserve.

This is without a doubt THE most Despicable thing I have EVER seen through this election. McCain's attempts to frame Romney as supporting a withdrawal of troops from Iraq is simply untrue and he owes Romney an apology. This attempt by McCain to use United States Military forces in the middle of a WAR as political pawns for his advantage is something we should expect from the Left, NOT from Sen. McCain

I don't know if anyone has come across this yet in reading up on McCain's record with judicial nominations but this is interesting. He and Sen. Lindsey Graham have expressed strong opposition to the nomination of Jim Haynes to be a judge on the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals: http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/013609.php
Haynes was General Counsel at Defense and is apparently being blocked by McCain and Sen. Graham over a role in the so called "torture memo". http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/gaynor/060713

The last Circuit Court judge to be confirmed by the Senate was the Hon. Judge Leslie Southwick to the 5th Circuit on October 24, 2007 by a vote of 59-38. The last District Court judge, The Hon. Judge Charles O'Connor Reed for the Northern District of Texas-November 16, 2007, confirmed by unanimous consent. http://judiciary.senate.gov/nominations.cfm
The President has sent the names of 11 nominees to various Circuits for Senate confirmation, a check of the Senate Judiciary Committee Calendar shows No hearings in sight.

To those who support the Gang of 14 and agree with the piece in The Weekly Standard I pose this hypothetical to you:
October 31, 2005. President Bush has nominated then Judge Alito to replace the retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court. Suspend reality for a moment and assume that Sen. Harry Reid's Closed Session stunt regarding the CIA leak fiasco did Not happen that day but instead there was outrage from the Left and some moderates on the Right expressed their disappointment with the President's choice.
