Posted at 4:09pm on Jul. 8, 2008 The Bush vs. Clinton legacies.

By Sandra Lea Wise

Last night on Brit Hume the panel was discussing the Bush legacy. They mentioned that each President is remembered primarily for one big thing. Bush’s legacy will be Iraq and the War on Terror. The panel agreed that if things continue to go well in Iraq, Bush’s legacy will be immense. Fred Barnes also mentioned that the fact that we have had no attacks on our soil since 9/11, nearly seven years, which no one expected, will not go unnoticed by historians.

Posted at 12:06pm on Jul. 4, 2008 Will God continue to bless America?

By Sandra Lea Wise

I heard the following sermon in Church last Sunday in light of the birthday of our Independence today.

Why has God blessed America?

1) Our Nation was founded on the freedom to express the Christian faith. The Mayflower Compact was the first document written. The common purpose of the document was “the advancement of the Christian faith” and God is mentioned four times.

2) Our founding fathers acknowledged God’s authority over us. The Declaration of Independence says our rights come from God. Washington added “so help me God” to the oath of office.

Posted at 2:00pm on Jul. 3, 2008 As conservatives, are we better off now?

By Sandra Lea Wise

With Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in charge and the so called “Republican brand” damaged, things look pretty dismal for conservatives.

A few days ago I was listening to a local talk show and a substitute host was wondering where the conservative movement had gone wrong. He had come to the conclusion that one of the problems was that conservative talk radio had lost it’s way. Instead of promoting conservative ideas and showing in a positive way how they would affect the country, they had started criticizing and trying to manipulate the Republican Party. Instead of supporting the conservative members in the Congress and the Senate, they constantly whined about the RINOs. Instead of standing by their own President for the good things that he had accomplished, they had started tearing him apart for things they didn't like.

Posted at 12:36pm on Mar. 18, 2008 Our State of the Union is not good, per Barack Obama.

By Sandra Lea Wise

I listened carefully to Obama’s speech this morning. This is what I heard. America has failed. We have failed to make up for slavery. We have failed to unite our citizens. We have failed to take care of our poor. We have failed in the War in Iraq. We have failed in our schools. We have failed to provide health care for everyone.

What is the hope for our failed 221 year experiment at the perfect Union? It lies in electing Obama to the Presidency. He is the one person with the unique background to solve all of our problems. His ideas can change America. As he says, “We will change America and then we will change the World.”

Posted at 12:53pm on Feb. 9, 2008 Selfless conservatism

By Sandra Lea Wise

Mitt Romney gave everyone a lesson this week on what conservatism should be all about. It should be about the country and not self.

It has been extremely disappointing to hear the rantings of some of the “spokesmen” for the conservative cause. Their irresponsible and shocking statements since John McCain has become the presumptive nominee, have demonstrated that they are not true conservatives, for why would a real conservative vote for Senator Obama or Clinton, or not vote at all thus allowing one of them to win?

Posted at 1:22pm on Jan. 24, 2008 Talk radio’s latest tantrum.

By Sandra Lea Wise

The evidence speaks for itself. Rush, Laura, Hannity “et all” have been neutered. The endless talk about Reagan, the non-stop referrals to the party of Reagan, the tantrums over Bush’s nomination of Miers and so on, have proven to be irrelevant. The silent majority is now speaking.

Listening to these sore losers today, makes one realize that it was all about them all the time. They don’t care about the Republican Party, unless they can run it. They thought for a while that they did run it. Rush even suggested that he might not support the Party’s nominee! The whispering has started: “It took Carter to get Reagan.”

Posted at 1:25pm on Nov. 24, 2007 Huckabee and the left wing conspiracy.

By Sandra Lea Wise

I was very impressed with Mike Huckabee, until I saw his interview on Fox News Sunday last week. The first 15 minutes were spent on ethics issues, while he was the governor of Arkansas.

I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t heard any of this! Huckabee resorted to the “there is a vast left wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against me since I became the Republican Governor of Arkansas,” defense.

Posted at 6:27pm on Nov. 9, 2007 But I thought everybody hated us.

By Sandra Lea Wise

To listen to Hillary and the Democrats, we have no friends left in the world. Hillary is running saying that she will return America to the respect and standing that it had during her first administration.

The visit this week from France’s new president is an astounding turnabout. France is our new best friend! How did this happen? The French have hated America for years. Certainly the evil George Bush couldn’t have had anything to do with France and America becoming friends again!

Posted at 1:28pm on Nov. 3, 2007 The "sky is falling" culture.

By Sandra Lea Wise

Something has gone very wrong with our culture. We no longer accept the fact that accidents and tragedies happen, that people die everyday. The reaction to everything now is: How do we fix this? What did the government do wrong? Who can we sue? Who is to blame?

Our culture used to be one that looked to God in times of trouble. Now we look to government. If there is a shooting somewhere, guns must be the problem and they must be banned. If there is a reckless driver, it’s the SUV’s fault and they must be outlawed. If people are fat, it’s the food industry’s fault, and it must be regulated. A bridge collapses and government must raise taxes. A mine caves in and the mining industry must be re-examined. A few people entered into risky mortgages, so the government must step in and bail them out.

Posted at 1:05pm on Oct. 9, 2007 Dobson and the Christian Right

By Sandra Lea Wise

For 30 years Dr. Dobson has shown up before each election, to denounce the Republican nominee for not being pure enough on abortion. He wants the candidate to say that he believes Roe v. Wade is wrong and that it must be overturned.

Last night I saw an interview with him on Hannity and Colmes. He is not backing any of the top tier candidates and suggests that if either Giuliani, Thompson, Romney or McCain gets the nomination, that he would be in favor convincing someone to run in a Third Party.
