(Part 2 of 12) – In Iraq there is no alternative, but VICTORY!
Myth #1: War in Iraq is all about Oil
Summary of Anti-Iraq argument:
George Bush & Dick Cheney are big Oil guys. Iraq has anywhere from the third most to the most Oil reserves in the World. Bush & Cheney are the new Rockefeller & Flagler of the Middle East. They are getting rich, killing our soldiers, and ensuring our destruction at the hands of global warming.
This may be the most ingenious myth/sound bite created by the anti-Iraq crowd. They kill three ”Ducks” with one stone. Big bad capitalists are lining their pockets with money, are plugging their ears to Global Warming, and are sending your children to die for their greed.
If for some reason, 50 years from now, when the Bush memos are released and the conspiracy theorists were right, then I will be the first person to admit I was wrong and help coordinate the destruction of the George W. Bush Library in Dallas, Texas. Not only is it abominable to think of such dastardly deceit, but they weren’t very smart to choose Iraq. Where else could they have gone that was easy to sell and was lucrative enough for the modern day robber barons that the conspiracy world has created?

If you go to school expecting to learn everything you need to learn from a book, in a classroom, or from a teacher, then you probably are going to miss out on some of the best lessons that life has to offer. With that gentle knock on home schooling aside, I have to admit it was much harder to stay awake in class than it was to stay focused on all the goings on from the Left Field Bleachers at Yankee Stadium in the spring of 1999.
I experienced a lot riding the subway to the Bronx and appreciated the Yankees providing free access to the games on my military ID, but lectures, labs, and late night study sessions hammered home a few very important lessons that stuck with me much longer than the euphoria of a Jeter/Knoblauch double play or Bernie Williams home run. Three such lessons that apply to the situation in Iraq are:
1. Real life systems cannot be simplified and explained through one variable.
2. You always make an educated guess about the results of an experiment …sometimes you are right…sometimes you are wrong. (Realism Helps)
3. Even if you are wrong…if you properly identify and explain why you were wrong…then you should be able to fix the process to find a solution.

We are delighted to welcome Trip Bellard of Troop Talk Radio to our front page. Erick.
"The Truth Shall Set Them Free…To Focus On Winning!"
First, I would like to thank Erick and all the good folks at Redstate for partnering together TroopTalk Radio and Redstate to work toward getting out the word from the Soldiers in-country and back here at home about the good fight and the great work they do each and every day to win this war - in Iraq, AND in the greater War on terror.
Memorial Day came and went and we all enjoyed the long weekend here at home while our brave heroes defended our freedom on distant shores. We are rapidly approaching the 63rd Anniversary of D-Day where 10,000 out of 156,000 Allied Ground Forces participating in Operation Overlord became casualties in the categories of Killed, Wounded, Missing or Captured. That was one day of one campaign in World War II. That day and campaign is consistently called an overwhelming Victory for Allied Forces.
In four years of fighting an unconventional insurgency fight in Iraq the coalition casualties’ number less than 20,000 Killed, Wounded, Missing or Captured. (Not Including Iraqi Security Forces or Wounded Returned to Duty in 72 hours) As I reflected on the amazing selfless service of our Veterans of past and present conflicts over the Memorial Day weekend and watched the political pundits and talking heads debate the future of Iraq, I kept running into this one question.
Why are we even debating the possibility of defeat (Quitting) in Iraq?
