By ekevlar11
The balance of power has shifted precipitously toward the Democratic party in this year’s election. Self-identified Republicans have been dropping since 2004 and even newly created Independents appear to be more aligned with Democrats than with Republicans.

By ekevlar11
In the victory fervor displayed last night and today over the meltdown of the Democratic party, possible splits, and soon to come negative campaigning, what many may have missed is another Democrat spitting in the face of those that elected her. Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown (D-Spokane) filed a lawsuit yesterday to once again overturn the will of the people.
Washington voters have twice passed initiatives that limited the power of Washington state representatives to raise taxes. In Washington, 2/3s of both Houses must pass measures to raise taxes. Last week, a measure to raise state alcohol taxes failed to pass by the required majority. And Brown is upset at the failure. But...why listen to the people? I am certain she is thinking that they are stupid, wrong and belligerent. She also is thinking that the people will certainly re-elect me to office again regardless of what I do. And she may have a point...incumbents have a much easier time to get elected.

Posted at 5:58pm on Feb. 20, 2008 An Inconvenient Truth in the state of Washington
By ekevlar11
So, I spent much of last night researching, reviewing, examining and perusing arguments and counter-arguments on Global Warming. Lots of hat tips go out to Mike Griffith, wikipedia, Arthur B. Robinson, Noah E. Robinson, and Willie Soon, amongst others. I reviewed the IPCC recommendations, reviewed scientific findings and on wikipedia noticed a dearth of critics listed to the IPCC (although many critics are available through a google search). Heck, I even watched an "Inconvenient Truth" for information. What got me so interested you ask? Well, two days ago a local news announcement revealed a new plan to assist local cities and communities with the global warming menace( http://www.climatesolutions.org/?s=news&aid=30).

Posted at 2:40pm on Feb. 7, 2008 Washington State Governor's race and the return of Rossi
By ekevlar11
In 2005, Republican contender Dino Rossi stopped contesting the 2004 fraudulent Washington election, although his rival Governor Gregoire had already challenged the results twice. The election was a fraud due sloppiness by election officials, possible actual fraud in King County and other locations. Election officials ultimately said it was 99.9% accurate (some dead voters, dogs were removed). Of course, the vote count difference hovered around 500 votes, so the inaccuracies were primarily responsible for his defeat. Posted at 1:01pm on Jan. 11, 2008 Best lines of the debate thread
By ekevlar11
I wasn't able to watch all the debate, but the part I tuned in to was full of fury. I saw a couple of pointed one-liner's that were too good to pass up. Here's one of my favorites:
Thompson responding to Huckabee's Guantanamo Prison position and restricting smoking.
“That’s not the model of the Reagan coalition, that’s the model of the Democratic Party,” he said.
I enjoyed Huckabee's response as well.

Posted at 11:46am on Nov. 1, 2007 Time to SAVE act - immigration bill
By ekevlar11
Rep Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) is looking at introducing a bill titled the SAVE Act that would encourage Attrition through Enforcement as well as the E-Verify system (http://www.numbersusa.com/interests/attrition.html). Although Republicans have been the group (for the most part) holding the line against illegal immigration, a Democrat has stood up and is saying enough is enough. Several other Democrat and Republican representatives are joining in their support of the bill.

Posted at 11:43am on Sep. 17, 2007 Senate DREAM Act - best interest of America?
By ekevlar11
This week the Senate will consider the DREAM Act by Sen Durbin as well as increases to H-1B and H-2B Visas. Again, whenever Congress is in session, we continue to lose more of our rights and the GREAT AMERICAN GIVEAWAY(TM) continues.
The DREAM Act gives amnesty to anyone who has been in the U.S. for 5 years and who was under 16 at the time of their entry to the U.S. The person's parents must have been denied legal status. In addition, it appears to create an anchor situation allowing those illegal immigrants to bring in the rest of their family. This law attempts to reward illegal immigrants and creates another magnet for folks to come here illegally. The H-1B visa program gives businesses the opportunity to hire foreign skilled workers often at the expense of our own American citizens. The H-2B visa program basically provides amnesty to farm workers - this could grant amnesty to over 3 million illegal immigrants.
