Posted at 5:06pm on Jul. 11, 2008 Pelosi's Stunt with the Gas Sign

By Vegas Rick

I apologize, because I don’t even know what the “stunt” was. But Rep King (R) NY is all in a tizzy about it on Fox News, and wants everyone to call Pelosi’s office and tell her to bring the bills to the floor of the House that will end the drilling moratorium.

It don’t need much reason to call Pelosi’s office and b**ch about Dem policies, so I’ve been trying for over half an hour and can’t get through.

Posted at 2:13pm on Jul. 4, 2008 For Those Who Defended Huckabee as a Fiscal Conservative

By Vegas Rick

My appologies if this was already posted. I looked, but found no other reference.

Mike Huckabee's political action committee, Huck Pac, has endorsed Don (Bridge to no where) Young.

I remember back in the fall and winter, all of the Huckabots where denouncing attacks on Huckabee's fiscal and economic record as unfair and unfounded.

Posted at 3:14pm on Jun. 13, 2008 Mike Huckabee Brings Identity Politics to Fox News

By Vegas Rick

Fox News has announced that they have signed former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee as a political commentator.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080613/ap_on_en_tv/tv_huckabee_fox_news

In a comment about the new position, Huckabee had this to say:
"I hope to bring the unique perspective from `inside the dragon's belly' as well as to try and speak for the millions of hardworking middle-class Americans who really do feel that their voices are not being heard," Huckabee said in a statement released by his daughter, Sarah. "I saw that on the campaign trail and continue to see as I speak to groups of all kinds around the country as well as campaign for other candidates."

Posted at 10:03pm on Apr. 23, 2008 Ya know, a President Billary might kill a lot of terrorists

By Vegas Rick

Now before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I’m not supporting or advocating for Billary. I’m a Fred head who supports our candidate. I’m juss sayin’.

Think about it. No matter what she says now, the first female Commander in Chief is not going to recklessly pull out of Iraq. She would be forever responsible for the slaughter that followed. Hillary has a set. A big brass set. And I think she wants to show them off a little. The anti-war left is solidly behind Obama. She owes them nothing. And, don’t ya think old slick Willy would like to nab Osama?

Posted at 9:48pm on Apr. 1, 2008 Mookie quit because he was losing

By Vegas Rick

He didn’t lose the battle. By all accounts the Mahdi (sp?) army at the very least, held their own against the Iraqi security forces. They might have even been kicking a little butt. But Mookie and the Ayatollahs in Iran were looking to pick a fight with us, not the Iraqi security. I think they figured they could pull us into the fight. In the long term, we would have kicked his a--. But, in the short term (8 months) the American people would have seen violence involving American troops rising along with injuries and deaths prior to the November election.

Posted at 3:31pm on Mar. 29, 2008 An example of why we should leave markets alone

By Vegas Rick

Everyone in DC is falling all over themselves to “help” the poor victims of the sub-prime mortgage crisis. You know who they are, those poor folks who couldn’t read or do the simple math required to evaluate the affordability of a mortgage contract. They were so blatantly manipulated by the unscrupulous mortgage brokers, that they should not be held accountable for the personal decisions they made.

One of the “remedies” that has been implemented is the elimination of the tax penalty for short selling your home. This was, I’m sure, intended to help those facing foreclosure find an alternative that might not totally ruin their finances and credit.

Today, I received a phone call from a finance company that was interested in helping me get out from under my sub-prime mortgage. Since my home is now worth 25K less than I owe, I had some initial interest.

Posted at 4:09pm on Jan. 23, 2008 Fred may have another bomb to drop

By Vegas Rick

Am I the only one who was surprised by this?

Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people.

I read the statement from Fred Thompson yesterday and thought to myself, “What, that’s it?” I don’t know about you guys, but I expected a little more than a 3 sentence e-mail.

Posted at 2:33pm on Jan. 19, 2008 Good news for Fred Thompson in Nevada?

By Vegas Rick

Or, I thought it might be until I turned on FNC.

I just returned from my first GOP caucus in Nevada. Here are the results for my precinct:

Romney- 37%
Thompson 27%
Huckabee 13%
HWSNBN 10%
Giuliani 7%
McCain 7%

I know the results of one precinct are statistically insignificant, especially considering the number Fox news is showing as I write this, but here are a couple of interesting observations:

Posted at 7:19pm on Jan. 4, 2008 We Absolutely MUST Support the GOP Nominee

By Vegas Rick

This post may be premature. After all, I’m talking about the nominee and we’ve just completed contest #1 out of 50. But, prior to the caucuses, and especially today, I’ve read too many posts and comments along this line: I will NOT vote for insert candidate here if he is the nominee. I think I’ve done it myself in a moment or two of infantile exuberance.

I understand the sentiment. If we’re going to have a fiscal liberal in the White House, I’d rather it be a democrat. If we’re going to have someone who is weak on immigration, I’d rather it be a democrat. If we’re going to have a president who is a foreign policy neophyte, I’d rather it be a democrat. If we’re going to elect a flip/flopping, lying, exaggerating, deflecting, soft on crime, sanctuary city running, sanctuary mansion owning, isolationist, free speech limiting, flag waving, bible thumping, smooth talking, senior citizen, and plastic president, I’d rather it be a democrat. Then, in 2 or 4 years, we can say: See what they did? Throw the bums out. They can’t say: Yeah, but you had the White House.

Posted at 5:06pm on Jan. 1, 2008 Poor ,poor, pitiful you...

By Vegas Rick

For the bulk of this campaign season, I have totally tuned out the democratic candidates. I know I will get my fill of one of them after the nominee is selected.

But, today, I’ve been watching CNN’s Ballot Bowl 08 because they keep showing live campaign events with most of the candidates. I wanted to hear Fred, Mitt, John, the Huckster, and even HWSNBN speak to the voters of Iowa and NH. It’s been very enlightening.
