Dear Senator Thompson,
I know I've only been able to vote for 10 years, but the early ballot I cast for you in Tennessee this past Saturday is the proudest one I have been able to cast so far. Thank you for contributing to this election cycle; I think your contribution will be extremely beneficial to the Republican party, whether you get any credit or not.
Regardless of who gets the Republican nomination for President this year, I believe you will be looked upon as the leader of the conservative movement in American politics this year. It seems all of the other candidates want to run away from conservatism in one way or another. You have also offered more substantive, courageous, consistently conservative policy proposals in your short campaign than all of the other Presidential campaigns combined.

I would like to ask this question and hear from Huckabee fans. Would you still be voting for Huckabee if he were running as a pro-life Democrat?
The more I learn about his record, the more I think he belongs with our friends on the left. Just an observation.

I discovered last night that Paul Pressler, who was a leader in the Southern Baptist conservative resurgance back around 1980, endorsed Fred Thompson. This is big news because a high-profile conservative evangelical has endorsed Fred Thompson.
I know it is not reflected at all in the polls yet, but I think Fred supporters will look back on this week as a pivotal week in the Thompson campaign. We saw that the values that have historically been important to evangelical voters are still important.

There is a tremendous amount of hoop-la out there this week about the Republican Presidential race. With all the movement in the polls, it is obvious that the primary is still wide open, and any of the top-tier candidates have a decent shot at winning. All the fluctuations in poll numbers also highlight a glaring lack of unity among evangelical Christian voters backing any one candidate.
