Posted at 3:51pm on Jan. 18, 2008 Nevada and South Carolina Predictions (is it ever too early?)
By arizonajohnson
I know that some here may think it too early in the day for the typical “day before” predictions. But I have to go out to dinner tonight and I’d like to see what the opinion of the Red State community is regarding the two contests scheduled for tomorrow.
Most of the pre-election polling data is out for the Nevada Republican Caucus and South Carolina Republican Primary.

By arizonajohnson
Now let's not jump to conclusions. I know Romney gets the blame for just about everything around here at RedState. I'm sure Romney wasn't behind this one.

By arizonajohnson
With a Huckabee victory in Iowa looking more to be the reality, Democrats like Susan Estrich are dreaming of that Democratic Inaugural Ball. I think they’re right.

Posted at 8:46pm on Jan. 1, 2008 That Rush Limbaugh Endorsement
By arizonajohnson
Ask yourself this question:
If Rush Limbaugh did endorse a candidate, would you then support that candidate? Would you make Romney or Thompson your top man if Limbaugh endorsed him?
I believe most of us here at RS respect the opinion of Rush Limbaugh. I personally have been listening to Rush on a daily basis for almost 20 years. Have I always agreed with him? Well, in general, yes. Not because I can’t think for myself. Rather, it’s because Rush has his finger squarely on the ideology of Conservative America. Being Conservative on all points, I naturally agree with Rush. Like National Review, Rush is a great communicator of the virtues Conservatism has to offer for this country. It’s no exaggeration that Rush Limbaugh is the greatest communicator today of the Conservative movement.

Posted at 5:01pm on Dec. 26, 2007 Thomas Sowell on Primary Elections and Secondary Candidates
By arizonajohnson
Economist Thomas Sowell's latest article is a must read:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/12/primary_elections_and_...
I appreciate his comments on each of the candidates. My favorite is the following:
"The only candidate of either party who truly looks presidential is Mitt Romney. It was unfortunate that Mike Huckabee and others have tried to make his religion an issue.

Posted at 8:50pm on Dec. 13, 2007 Fred Thompson's Apology to Mike Huckabee: For what? Check and see!
By arizonajohnson
What did Fred say about Mike that he needs to apologize for? Well, plenty. And given the depth of Mike's closet, I'm sure Fred will need to apologize each week until the primaries are over.

By arizonajohnson
In case you missed it, Michael Novak (author, philosopher, and theologian) gave Mitt Romney a wonderful endorsement yesterday.

Michael's words should resonate positively with Social Conservatives.

Posted at 2:21pm on Dec. 13, 2007 Mike Huckabee is none other than "Lonesome Rhodes" from "A Face in the Crowd"
By arizonajohnson
I came to the chilling realization last night that Mike Huckabee's folksy one-liners and his backwoods populist approach is reminiscent of Andy Griffith's character Larry 'Lonesome' Rhodes from the movie "A Face in the Crowd". I recommend the movie to anyone interested in character similarities. It was Andy Griffith’s first big movie.
Here’s a little taste of the character. Do you see any similarities with Huckabee?

Posted at 12:41am on Dec. 12, 2007 Additional Late-Breaking Information in the Huckabee-Dumond Fiasco
By arizonajohnson
Powerline provides a brief with links to the Huffington Post and Others. The article includes copies of letters turned over by former Huckabee staffer. Huckabee campaign spokeperson previously denied any letters and then admitted to one. Huffington Post has now released twelve separate letters that were send to then Governor Huckabee. Furthermore, Dumond had confessed to committing other rapes without being charged. Huckabee had full knowledge and still believed Dumond should be freed.

Posted at 10:59am on Dec. 11, 2007 "What changed was I'm running for president."
By arizonajohnson
Romney has been taking a beating for changing positions on abortion and gay marriage. Romney credits the change to a true change of heart on the issues. His critics say Romney changed simply because he's now running for president.
I can appreciate the concerns of the Romney critics. Who wants a candidate that changes policy merely because its polically expedient.
But let's remember, Ronald Reagan was once a prominent Democrat in Hollywood. It wasn't until he became a part of the Barry Goldwater campaign that he had a true change of heart.
