WASHINGTON (CNN) — California Rep. Duncan Hunter, a former presidential candidate, announced Wednesday he is endorsing Mike Huckabee's White House bid.
“I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail,” Huckabee said in a statement. “Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China’s emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America’s industrial base.

The American Conservative's Jan. 28th cover story is on Huckabee and is titled The Audacity of Huck

Here are three paragraphs that especially resonated with me:
"...Huckabee continued to call for evangelical solidarity, telling Zev Chafets of the New York Times, “If my own abandon me on the battlefield, it will have a chilling effect.” Recently, campaigning in Michigan, Huckabee told reporters, “Many of us who have been Republicans out of conviction ... the social conservatives, were welcomed in the party as long as we sort of kept our place, but Lord help us if we ever stood forward and said we would actually like to lead the party.” For years the Beltway Right had posed to heartlanders as an “us,” but for evangelicals supporting Huckabee, National Review, the Club for Growth, and the Republican establishment now resemble a “them.”

Today, Senator Fred Thompson announced that he will no longer seek the Republican nomination for President. I wish Fred the best.
Fred’s decision, along with my friend Congressman Duncan Hunter’s departure from the race, narrows the presidential field. I want to thank these fine men for their contributions to the debate. Our Party, and our nation, depends upon the patriotism and dedication of men and women who get involved in the political process.

Posted at 7:24pm on Jan. 22, 2008 The Effect of the FairTax on the Gaming Industry
By eworthi
I live in Las Vegas and prepared this piece for the Las Vegas Review Journal recently.
The Effect of the FairTax on the Gaming Industry
Effect on Employees.
The FairTax removes the age old battle over the taxation of tips, because not only are tips not taxed, but neither is the base salary that supports the employee when tips are low. There is no income tax regardless of how it is earned. No tax on bonuses, commissions, stock dividends etc. You pay your due to the Federal government only when you buy something, and because the prebate covers taxes paid on poverty level expenditures, you pay no tax on the basic essentials.
