Posted at 5:29pm on Jan. 28, 2008 FL: Key guns-rights activist endorses McCain

By cordpt

After Sen. Martinez and Gov. Crist, McCain scores another big endorsment in the Sunshine State, where a close-fought primary is taking place.

This time is Pasco County GOP chairman Bill Bunting, a former FredHead and a very vocal Second Amendment advocate.

Here's what he said about his endorsment:

«I look for the candidate who understands the idea that with great freedoms come great responsibilities, which is why I am supporting John McCain," Bunting said. "John McCain is an honorable man a great American with a strong commitment to second amendment rights and I am proud to support him for president.»

Posted at 8:52pm on Jan. 26, 2008 CNN reporting: Governor Crist (FL) to endorse McCain tonight

By cordpt

After Sen. Mel Martinez's endorsement, McCain can get a huge boost tonight with the endorsement of Governor Charlie Crist.

That would be highly significant as McCain has fiercely opposed to the national catastrophic fund that Crist is, of course, a strong proponent.

Posted at 9:51pm on Jan. 23, 2008 Louisiana Caucus Results: 1 - Uncommitted Pro-Life, 2 - McCain, 3 - Paul, 4 - Romney

By cordpt

More than 10,000 Republican voters met at 11 locations around Louisiana to choose delegates to the 2008 Louisiana Republican Convention, which will elect nearly all of Louisiana's delegates to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

"Preliminary results show that a majority of the 105 state convention delegates who have been elected ran on a statewide pro-life uncommitted slate," Villere said. "I congratulate the candidates and supporters of this group on their victory and look forward to working with them to keep our Party platform pro-life at the state and national conventions," he said.

Delegate candidates endorsed by US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) appear to have won more state convention delegate positions than any other presidential slate at the Louisiana Caucuses.

"I offer my congratulations Senator John McCain on his success in the Louisiana caucuses," Villere said. "Senator McCain is an American hero and this is further evidence that he enjoys strong support in Louisiana and throughout the South," he said.»»

Chairman Roger F. Villere, Jr. also stated that there was a significant overlap between the McCain and Pro-Life slates. On the other hand, a reader from NRO claims that most pro-life uncommited slates were FredHeads. In this caucus were elected delegates to the State Convention.

Bayou State Republicans will hold a primary on February 9th, in wich 20 delegates to the National Convention will be alocated if a candidate gets 50%+1 of the vote. If no candidate meets that threshold, then the state convention will select the 47 state's delegates.

Posted at 7:17pm on Jan. 10, 2008 McCain, Life and Marriages: getting the facts straight

By cordpt

Allow me to present some facts about McCain's record on these ethical issues:

Senator McCain supported the interests of the NARAL Pro-Choice America 0 percent in 2006.
Senator McCain supported the interests of the Planned Parenthood 0 percent in 2006.
Senator McCain supported the interests of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association 0 percent in 2005-2006.

Why have these pro-choice organizations rated McCain so lowly? It's a simple answer:
