There are those who have accused me of being sarcastic in my previous post. Nothing could be further from the truth. Democrats have great ideas for handling the economy!

Clinton had great ideas! Remember how he reduced medical expenses. We Democrats understand that the reason we pay so much for medical insurance is that doctors are out there looking for people on whom they can operate: the more doctors there are, the more operations there are, and the more operations, the more big bucks we have to shell out.

By quill67

Corn prices were an average of $1.97 in 2000. Today they hit $7.55. Corn prices have risen more than gasoline. Most corn is produced by corporations so who will stop these greedy corporations?

I think we need a windfall profit tax on corn. These producers didn't do anything to deserve these large profits and if we let them keep these large profits they will only want to produce more corn and make even larger profits. Corn is a major food-stuff that we all need. It is not right for corporations to make money on things that we need so we should reduce their profits by taxing corn producers.

Posted at 1:01am on Feb. 8, 2008 China's New Power Plants Will Emit More Emissions than Kyoto Would Save?

By quill67

David Gergen claimed on CNN tonight that the '650 additional coal fired power plants in China will emit more CO2 than all of Kyoto would have reduced CO2 emissions' Is this correct?

They then discussed the possibility of the U.S. paying China to use clean coal technologies (Then they realized that such a plan would be politically infeasible) I am very skeptical of manmade CO2 as the cause of global warming, but even if it is, this discussion shows the folly of forcing Americans to make dramatic changes in our energy uses.
