There's a good column by Con Coughlin in the Daily Telegraph today - Jimmy Carter pledged to reform US foreign policy... and look what happened
He notes that he's starting to backpedal but if he doesn't:

....I fear that Osama bin Laden and his chums will be rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of Mr Obama becoming the 44th President of the United States of America.
