By KurtLuidhardt

Indiana Congressman Dan Burton, former head of the House Government Reform committee in the US House, was perhaps Bill Clinton's biggest enemy.   He led the successful investigations into Clinton campaign finance abuse.

For the first time ever, Bill and Hillary are coming to Indiana to campaign for President.  Congressman Dan Burton is greeting Hillary with a campaign radio ad of his own (put into YouTube) that both makes fun of Hillary's 3AM ad as well as his left-wing Primary opponent.

Posted at 9:00pm on Mar. 11, 2008 IN7: Upset in the making? Either way, Carson is in trouble.

By KurtLuidhardt

The mood at Republican headquarters in Indy is very positive.  With confirmed good returns in Republican areas and a couple of surprises in Center Township, we may just win this one tonight.

Keep in mind, John Kerry won this Congressional district by almost 20 points in 2004.  If Jon Elrod ends up getting even remotely close to Andre Carson it is a moral victory for Indiana Republicans- and a major problem for Andre Carson.  He'll struggle to get out of an already competitive primary  becuase his own party will consider him unelectable.

Posted at 8:05pm on Mar. 11, 2008 Following IN7 Election Results

By KurtLuidhardt

Welcome to the world of the bazarre...

I am reporting from the war room of the Jon Elrod campaign in Indiana Republican Party headquarters.

And it's been a day.  The Democrat Marion County clerk decided earlier this month to run the election using paper ballots.  That may appease the Diebold is the root of all evil people, but it creates whole other problems- including 1,000 missing paper ballots.

Posted at 6:17am on Mar. 11, 2008 Vote for Elrod Today

By KurtLuidhardt

Today is Election Day in Indiana's 7th! This is our chance to vote for Jon Elrod and take back Indiana's 7th district. Momentum has been building this week for Elrod as he was able to raise enough money for a series of television commercials and also earned the endorsement of the Indianapolis Star.

For your enjoyment (another commercial attacking Carson from the Dems):

Posted at 9:01pm on Mar. 10, 2008 Indiana Dems Flack for John McCain

By KurtLuidhardt

Wow, was I surprised to see this one this evening!  For those of you who don't know, Taking Down Words is the official/unofficial Indiana Democrat Party blog.  Yeah, they claim otherwise, but it's BS.

I suppose the Dems don't agree with the Governor much, but I'm glad they agree with his choice for President.

RedStaters! Things are heating up in Indiana's 7th! I've been told the Elrod campaign has received an influx of money- enough for a major media buy this weekend. But Jon still needs our help!

Check out the new Elrod TV Commercial.

Posted at 10:16am on Mar. 7, 2008 Jon Elrod wins Indy Star Endorsement

By KurtLuidhardt

Getting a big boost for his campaign today was Hoosier Jon Elrod, Republican candidate in Indiana's 7th.  With the special election only days away, he has earned the endorsement of the Indianapolis Star.

The Star's endorsement is significant.  The editorial board has been friendly to Democrats and endorsed Andre Carson's grandmother frequently when she held the seat.

Posted at 8:11pm on Feb. 26, 2008 IN 7th: Carson hearts Farrakhan and MSM hypocrisy

By KurtLuidhardt

Earlier this week, the Indianapolis Star posted an article on Democrat candidate for Congress (In-7) Andre Carson.  Although the Carson article focused mostly on his religion (he's a Muslim), I was more interested in the first couple of paragraphs.

Andre Carson's greatest political asset may be his grandmother's name, but one of his biggest liabilities is proving to be her funeral.

Posted at 9:07pm on Feb. 23, 2008 Do John McCain and Hillary Clinton have the same campaign manager?

By KurtLuidhardt

Mccain_ready_to_lead_2There are Republican political operatives much smarter than me.  However, I have to question the continued wisdom of the McCain slogan on his website.  Where have we heard it before....

By KurtLuidhardt

IN-07 could be a major surprise, keep the on the ground posts coming... promoted by Adam C

Indiana's 7th is only getting more weird- at least for the Democrats.

As we've discussed before, the special election in Indiana's 7th Congressional district is shaping up to be one of the most complex in recent times.  Because of the death of Rep. Julia Carson, a special election has been scheduled for March 11th to choose her successor.  However, the winner of the special election will still have to win a separate Primary in May in order to be the party's nominee for the November general election.
