Even though I have been working for more than the last 25 years and only the occasional job left me, still I was bitter when my preferred candidate (Fred Thompson) left the race after South Carolina.
As McCain wrapped up the GOP nomination I did have some residual antipathy from the illegal immigration/amnesty fights last year that made it difficult for me to warm up to McCain (this from someone who worked for his campaign in 2000 -- so there was a time when I almost hero worshipped McCain).

On Monday there was an AOL poll asking: “Do you have any doubts about Barak Obama’s patriotism?” Now it being AOL one should expect some left of center sentiments, so imagine my surprise when the responses are 55% (243,076 votes) Yes, a lot and another 13% Yes, a little. Almost 70% question Obama’s patriotism. Wow!

Reverend Wright is just the tree. Now certainly he was the loudest and largest tree in the forest that is Trinity United Church, but to focus just on the vile, hate-filled fiery sermons of Reverend Wright is to miss this otherwise equally hate filled, separatist, white vilifying church. To find Obama’s actions objectionable does not require proof that he may have sat in a pew nodding along while Reverend Wright spat this hatred. It is vile that for 20 years Obama walked through the doors and sat in this church, regardless of the sermons and speakers. In the biggest whitewashing (should we call it black washing?) of the truth I’ve seen in my lifetime, in 2006 as Obama prepared his campaign for POTUS Trinity United Church modified its website by substituting this 12 point About Us descriptive for this scrubbed 10 point About Us descriptive.

As more and more about Trinity United Church and Reverend Wright bubbles to the surface of the blogsphere and talk radio my brain loops the same question over and over.
Who are you Barak Obama?
For 20 years Mr. Obama you belonged to a church that until 2006 posted THIS as its descriptive “About Us” statement of beliefs.
