Spring is here (sort of) and the body politic is watching the emergence of candidates from their winter cocoons. Maine, being a very blue state (nothing to do with the cold), has an overabundance of Left winged blue birds! One such blue bird is Mark Lawrence of York County who is running to fill Rep. Tom Allen's (D-ME) seat.

Moe, I've seen that type of behavior in our older population firsthand. I remember talking to my mom and dad about their youth and their friends. I remember the look on their faces and the tremor in their voices. The memories of relatives and friends that were just memories, nothing else.

Apparently Mr. McCain doesn't realize that the president cannot send federal military forces into any state (each state in the U.S. is a sovereign state) without being requested. National Guard troops are under the command of each state's governor and unless sent by their governor after having receive a request for the other state can't just go into the state. Once you activate those Guardsmen they become federal military forces and fall under the provisions of the Posse Comitatus law, so the president can't order them to the area withou being requested by the Governor of that state.

Hi all,
I hail from the great "Peoples' Socialist Republic of Maine" (state abbreviation 'ME' hence the name "From ME to you"). I will comment, from time to time, on the events and actors on the state, national and world stages that interest me, the person not the state!
I will admit to some bias as I am a retired U.S. Air Force NCO. I will readily converse with any current and former member of any of our Armed Forces (thanks for all your sacrifices and hard work!)
