By neodanite
Get on the phone. Send out email. Best option: send a contribution to candidates who are running for office and attach a message to it:
Endorse Joe Lieberman for Senate.
Republicans like Rick Santorum, Lynn Swann, Chris Shays, Nancy Johnson, and Rob Simmons have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

By neodanite
From the Diaries
Dear fellow RedStaters:
After supporting the mission in Iraq in spirit since its inception, I have accepted the challenge from our liberal friends and gone to Iraq to support the mission in person.
I'm currently working as a contractor in Iraq. After working for the L.A.P.D. for 8 years, I've decided to use my skills to train the new Iraqi Police and thereby help the new government get on its feet and become less dependent on America.

Posted at 5:37am on May 22, 2006 Privatizing Military Operations...Update from Virginia
By neodanite
I thought that I'd drop everyone a line since I finally have some down time.
I have been training for the past 7 days at a private facility in Virginia. I am now working for a company called DynCorp which sends police officers and supervisors to Iraq in order to train, supervise, and mentor the Iraqi police.
The training is very, very intense. 90% of it so far has been tactical training in rifles, pistols, ambush escape, and convoy techniques.
I'm very excited about working for this company and assisting our military and the Iraqi people.

Here's a shocker for those who know me: I supported a Democrat for Mayor of Newark this year.
His name is Cory Booker. And he is the new face of the upwardly mobile African American.
Why do I like Cory?
Let me count the ways:

Posted at 9:21am on Apr. 16, 2006 My Ten Best Senators (and 5 losers)
By neodanite
I just saw Time Magazine's "10 Best Senators" (2 conservative Republicans, 4 moderate Republicans, 1 moderate dem, and 3 liberal dems).
(In a Senate where it is fairly easy to find greatness if you don't hate conservatives.)
Time also listed the 5 worst; and managed to miss do-nothing whiners like Barbara Boxer, Maria Cantwell, Barack Obama, and Debbie Stabenow.

Posted at 1:31am on Apr. 4, 2006 No Terrorist Attacks since 9/11, Credit Anything But Bush's Leadership
By neodanite
At least, that's the approach taken by Fareed Zakaria in tomorrow's Washington Post.
Why have the terrorists backed down?
One puzzle about post-Sept. 11 America is that it has not had a subsequent terror attack -- not even a small backpack bomb in a movie theater -- while there have been dozens in Europe. My own explanation is that American immigrant communities, even Arab and Muslim ones, are not very radicalized. (Even if such an attack does take place, the fact that 4 1/2 years have gone by without one provides some proof of this contention.) Compared with every other country in the world, America does immigration superbly. Do we really want to junk that for the French approach?

By neodanite
Make that the "race, gender, AND 'progressiveness'" card.
Because if you look at the Capitol Police, you'll find that just about everyone they stop is a black, female, and "PROGRESSIVE" congresswoman.
The humanity!
Anyway, here's the headliner from your CNN.com
McKinney: Race sparked tiff with police
Lawmaker faces possible charges after allegedly striking officer

Rep. Cynthia McKinney said race is a reason that she was stopped by Capitol Police on Wednesday.
* Lawmaker scuffles with police
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- As U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Georgia, faces possible criminal charges for a Wednesday altercation with a Capitol Police officer, one of her lawyers said Friday that the real issues were "sex, race and Ms. McKinney's progressiveness."

Posted at 8:08pm on Mar. 28, 2006 How to REALLY Steal an Election
By neodanite
Hat tip to John McIntyre of RealClearPolitics.com
Hugo Chavez really, really stole an election.
Here's the link:

Other than a reminder of how fragile democracy is, this story serves as a reminder of two elections that were NOT stolen: the U.S. presidential elections of 2000 and 2004.

Posted at 8:29pm on Mar. 26, 2006 Patricia Heaton: Pro-Life Advocate
By neodanite
I've always loved "Everybody Loves Raymond".
I think that Ray Romano is very funny and the show is well-written.
I had heard in the past that the show's Emmy-award winning leading lady, Patricia Heaton, was pro-life.
But I didn't know that she was an outspoken advocate for a pro-life group called "Feminists for Life".

Posted at 12:48pm on Mar. 22, 2006 Pretend that you're the president
By neodanite
It is June of 2002. While the UN continues to look for WMD in Iraq, your intelligence director, George Tenet, reports to you that messages have been intercepted which indicate that Saddam is trying to hide chemical weapons such as nerve gas from the UN inspectors. Even though the inspectors are trying to find evidence of chemical weapons, it is obvious that wherever inspectors go, there has been a recent "clean up".
You're the president. What do you do?
