By E Pluribus Unum

THERE IS MUCH MORE BLACKNESS TO AMERICAN CULTURE THAN ONE MIGHT THINK - SO I SAY CELEBRATE IT!

I declare today, July 10, 2008, at least for myself, Black Day. I was inspired to do so by a couple of upstanding Black Americans in my area - Dallas City Council members John Wiley Price and Thomas Jones. The Dallas Morning News throws down the tale of this Monday afternoon caper:

Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that central collections "has become a black hole" because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.

Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud "Excuse me!" He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a "white hole."

That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.

Mayfield shot back that it was a figure of speech and a science term.

It seems to me that some people have an obsessive attachment to the word "black", and would prefer it if only *they* were allowed to use it. Well, tough noogies, Commissioners Price and Brown. I like that word, and I think I'll celebrate it all day today. And good on Mayfield for not kowtowing to those sorry race pimps.

Posted at 5:18am on Jul. 2, 2008 I'd like to think we've earned at least their *B* team

By E Pluribus Unum

WHEN YOU PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL ON YOUR OWN DIARIES, THE TROLLS END UP LOOKING LIKE KLINK AND SHULTZ.

File under: we're slaughtering your C team | if you love us, send better trolls

I'll lead off with the moral to the story. We all like to shoot from the hip, wax eloquent and windy, and blow long and hard while beating up on the Democrats and other opponents. It's both fun and therapeutic. But remember, just like in kenpo, it all starts with the feet, and if your footwork ain't dead solid, then you got a whole bunch of nothing.

In short - facts, details, more facts, and more details. Do NOT make assertions that you do not specifically know to be true. Make excellence in your work a daily matter of pride.

The reasons for that are several. Jump with me...

By E Pluribus Unum

OR, HOW TO INSULATE YOURSELF FROM PERFECTLY DESERVED CRITICISM

File under : Obama | Macho Bambi at it again | how dare you challenge my patriotism

First of all, apologies to Troy Aikman - this is not a blog about the immortal captain of our 3 juggernauts of 1992, 1993, and 1995. The Dallas Cowboys of that era remain supreme as the best team that ever took the field. [and shut up you tired Pat weinies - nobody loves you or cares what you think]

Imagine hearing a speech by Troy Aikman that contained the following:

I have found, for the first time, my devotion to the Philadelphia Eagles challenged—at times as a result of my own carelessness, more often as a result of the desire by some to score political points and raise fears about who I am and what I stand for. I will never question the Eagle-love of Jeremiah Trotter. And I will not stand idly by when I hear others question mine.

Read on for Obama comedy.....

Posted at 1:17pm on Jun. 25, 2008 GOP Congressional candidates should run on an 'Impeach the 5 usurpers' platform

By E Pluribus Unum

Tag this as:
protect and defend the Constitution | throw the bums out | habeas corpus this, you morons

Do it. Do it now.

Every GOP candidate for The US House or Senate, who is not polling at least 60% - your ship has arrived, and it is filled to the brim with electoral gold.

The 2008 session of the United States Supreme Court has brought us a judicial coup in progress. They have been lurching toward this for at least 40 years, since the Warren Court, and now they have openly and brazenly inserted themselves ABOVE the Constitution and ABOVE the elected branches of our Constitutional republic.

Four months before an election in which the Republican chances in Congress are universally considered bleak, SCOTUS has ruled on a matter outside their jurisdiction, given civilian court rights to terrorists, and invalidated a death penalty law by citing 'evolving standards' and European courts.

It's a gift from Heaven.

Posted at 10:59am on Jun. 25, 2008 Fred Thompson, the Mighty Bambino, just keeps hitting them out of the park

Tag this one as:
Fred pulling McCain rightward | November looking good | the best man does not always win | but this may work

h/t to my dear friend and big-time John McCain supporter Vicki Hampton for showing me this video, knowing I was a proud and never-repentant Fredhead.

Check out the latest video - a campaign video narrated by Fred Thompson and called 'Freedom'. It appears to be sponsored by the NRSC / NRCC, and it's about DARN TIME those committees started at least giving a minimal amount of lip service to conservatism. Now if we could only get them to stop supporting RINOS like Chafee against clearly superior primary opponents. Ah, baby steps I guess.

Posted at 1:08pm on Jun. 12, 2008 Now is the time- Save our Constitution: Open letter to Bush, Roberts, Boehner, McConnell

By E Pluribus Unum

IF YOU DO NOT STAND UP FOR OUR CONSTITUTION NOW, WILL YOU EVER? WILL ANYONE EVER?

Open Letter to the following:
President George W Bush
Chief Justice John Roberts
House Minority Leader John Boehner
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell

This morning the United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to directly defy Article III, Section 2 of the United States Constitution in deciding to extend habeas corpus rights to foreign nationals held at Gitmo - in defiance of the Legislative Branch acting within its specific Constitutional authority to deny SCOTUS jurisdiction over the matter.

Posted at 8:58am on Jun. 10, 2008 Patrick Henry 2008 - Liberty, Death, or the Couch-Bound Demise of Cowards

By E Pluribus Unum

CONSERVATIVES FACE THE SLOW, COUCH-BOUND DEATH OF COWARDS IF WE REFUSE TO ENGAGE A WAR ALREADY WELL UNDERWAY BY THE AMERICAN LEFT

In the years leading up to 1775, the British had continually tightened their grip on the colonists. The efforts of the colonial governments to engage the Crown and the Parliament to present grievances, or to even open a constructive dialog, had
met with no more than polite smiles to their faces, derisive sneers behind their backs, and a massive military build-up to deal with the increasingly restless American population seething with resentment.

The American colonists were the worst possible sort -- highly educated, well-read, well-informed, and having had a taste of freedom and self-reliance unparalleled at that time. They were smart, savvy, and hacked off. But While the citizens were arming themselves and forming militias, the colonial governments were loathe to act in any way that might incite the Crown (with some exceptions - the Parliament had already declared Massachusetts in a state of rebellion). On March 23, 1775, the Virginia legislature met in a church in Richmond, rather than the Capital at Williamsburg, to avoid confrontation with the British. How typical, but Henry was having none of that.

Patrick Henry proposed that an organized company of infantry or cavalry be formed in every VA county. Several speakers got up to preach moderation, to await replies from their most recent proposals to Parliament, and various forms of inaction. Henry spoke last, and it is said that both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson sat in stunned, jaw-dropped silence after this speech. 15 months later, Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence, which echoes the words of Patrick Henry. And well, we know what Washington did.

Posted at 6:16am on Jun. 5, 2008 The Long War and the Short War

By E Pluribus Unum

IT'S BIGGER THAN 4 YEARS

File under: Conservative long-range plans | baby, bathwater, all that

Note: This is a large excerpt from my diary to the Fredheads. That diary had a specific purpose (to encourage Fredheads to come on board with the McCain election effort). But part of my argument involved describing the big picture -- well, according to me anyway. That diary was meant for a limited audience, but I thought the Long War / Short War thing was perhaps of interest to others.

Tell me what you think.

Posted at 6:03am on Jun. 5, 2008 Pssst! Hey, Fredheads - over here for a confab

By E Pluribus Unum

IT'S TIME TO TAKE A HARD LOOK AT BOTH THE LONG WAR AND THE SHORT WAR, THEN DO THE RIGHT THING

File under: Fredheads | powwow in the rebel camp | don't hate us because Fred is beautiful

Note to all: This diary is not technically a closed meeting. But if you're not one of the Fredheads or our adjuncts -- in short, people with strong conservative principles who have on that basis had a good bit of difficulty warming up to McCain -- this ain’t for you, and I would GREATLY appreciate it if you just move along, or read it and save your ammo for another day.

This discussion has to happen inside the rebel camp, rebel to rebel. We've heard what you have to say, now let us talk amongst ourselves. I asked nicely, but this ain't another Olive Branch. Don't mistake this for a dialog between Fredheads and anybody else. Savvy?

So, my fellow Fredheads, let's have that heart-to-heart, shall we?
