By itrytobenice
As I am seeing a dearth of open threads and am unable to create an entire diary out of any of my thoughts, could I please call this an open thread?
I will contribute the first few comments [which are none worthy of an entire diary on their own.]

Posted at 10:16am on May 20, 2008 Tornado
By itrytobenice
I thought you guys just might want to know that the big tornado that went through Missouri and part of Oklahoma last Saturday went pretty darn close to my house. We live about three fourths of a mile North of the north edge of the tornado and about three or four miles from its first touch down.
It was an EF4 and a full mile wide in places. It was on the ground for 91 miles, making it one of the longest running tornados recorded.

Posted at 1:58am on Jan. 19, 2008 Hillary vs. McCain. Who Wins When Neither One Can Win?
By itrytobenice
First, my premise: Neither John McCain nor Hillary Clinton can win the presidency. Why, you ask? Here are my thoughts on it.
When it gets to a general election, we are still primarily a divided nation. Red vs. Blue. Democrats vs. Republicans. If a candidate can't win their own party, they certainly can't beat the opposition.
For all of the last year everyone predicted Hillary would win the D nomination with no real opposition. The Ds were supporting her because they thought she was electable, not because they really like her (at least no one but the crazy radical feminists like her). Along comes Obama, and even though he is not experienced enough to even make a credible run for the presidency in a typical election with a typical field, he is polling very competitively with her.

Posted at 1:08pm on Dec. 13, 2007 Another Important Point About the John Wayne Stud
By itrytobenice
In another place and time, I related a series of interviews between Cutie Katie Couric and the presidential candidates. (And on a frustrating note, I worked diligently to put a linky poo in the above paragraph, but it just ain't happening. I need Neil.)
Something else occurred to me as I read the debate thread which involved the media, dog and pony shows, dancing chickens and rattling chains.

Posted at 1:34am on Dec. 13, 2007 I'm telling you, FDT is a John Wayne Stud
By itrytobenice
So, it's 3:00 a.m. and I can't sleep. We turned off our satellite, but I flip on the TV anyway. My little cutie, Katie Couric [/sarc] is on there interviewing all the presidential candidates. The teaser is that she is going to ask them something no one else ever has.
My curiosity is piqued. What could it be? Me, being a nosy little mouse, watch to see.
Other than losing your family, what scares you the most?

Posted at 10:00pm on Nov. 15, 2007 I'm Fed Up With Sen. Kit Bond (R-MO)
By itrytobenice
Senators Claire McCaskill and Kit Bond represent the great state of Missouri (or as our lucky Oklahoma neighbors represented by Tom Coburn would say - Sorry State of Misery). I worked hard to defeat Sen. McCaskill, working phone banks, stuffing envelopes, donating money, attending rallies (yeah, I know, that's not much work), but she defeated Sen. Talent anyway. Now, she's turning into my favorite senator. And yes, that's like saying I prefer root canals over braces.

Posted at 12:40pm on Nov. 14, 2007 Random Depressing Observations from the Political Scene
By itrytobenice
Rudy Guiliani came to my neck of the woods day before yesterday. Yesterday, I was at my homeschool group and two different people mentioned it. The first had gone to the rally (historical, etc.) She said that there were picketers out front and she didn't know who they were. I said probably Ron Paul. She said, "Yes, that is what they said. Who's that?" I told her he was a nut.
But then she asked about Rudy. I told her he was pro-abortion, pro-gay-unions, and I didn't like him. She was surprised to hear that. Who did I like? Fred Thompson, says I. Who's that? says she. Sigh.

Posted at 12:07am on Oct. 26, 2007 The Man Who Runs America Goes Broke
By itrytobenice
Well, probably not really broke, but did you guys see the Rush Limbaugh auction? (Sorry if this is old news and you've already blogged it.)
Rush promised to match the auction price of the Harry Reid letter, donating both sums to The Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation, a registered charity which provides financial assistance to the children of fallen Marines and federal law enforcement officers.

Posted at 7:59am on Apr. 18, 2007 Good enough for thee, but not for me
By itrytobenice
I weary of our American Politburo and their penchant for ignoring the results of their decisions for those of us in the peasant class. They make rules affecting our lives and either live in an exempt world, or create exemptions for themselves.
They are perfectly happy to impose onerous taxes on the working class, with the pretext of making the 'rich' pay their fair share, as they sit on their fat trust funds full of tax free munis.

There are times I feel like the Lone Ranger, then along comes Tbone, and I feel like the Lone Ranger with Tonto; that is, not quite so alone.
