Tim Pawlenty:
By most accounts, Governor Pawlenty is the current frontrunner for the position. It doesn't take a Karl Rove wannabe to figure out why. It's often said that the Vice President can at best add two percent of the vote to a ticket. In Pawlenty's case, if he's able to swing his home state at least 3.48 percent and more importantly its neighbor, Wisconsin, by just .38 percent, then McCain can pick up a total of 20 electoral votes. In terms of electoral votes, no other politician in the U.S. offers McCain greater potential than Tim Pawlenty. Additionally, putting a popular Minnesota Republican on the national ticket could bring out voters for Senator Norm Coleman in what should be a tough re-election against Al Franken.

Posted at 5:17pm on May 31, 2008 I hope McCain selects Carly Fiorina to be his Running Mate

By StevenK

Essentially, she's already been his running mate for the past few months as she and John co-host town hall meetings across the country and through Fiorina's many surrogate appearances on behalf of the campaign. I don't think there is a single other politician who has stumped more for McCain than Fiorina.

McCain changes story on tax stance

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican John McCain says he opposed President Bush's tax cuts because they didn't come with spending cuts. That is not what he said at the time.

In a presidential debate on Wednesday, McCain said he voted against the Bush tax cuts because he wanted to rein in spending.

Posted at 7:27pm on Jan. 18, 2008 Why I fear President McCain

By StevenK

Because he uses class warfare rhetoric - sometimes directly following denials that he does.

1. “I don’t think the governor’s tax cut is too big—it’s just misplaced. Sixty percent of the benefits from his tax cuts go to the wealthiest 10% of Americans—and that’s not the kind of tax relief that Americans need. … Gov. Bush wants to spend the entire surplus on tax cuts. I don’t believe the wealthiest 10% of Americans should get 60% of the tax breaks. I think the lowest 10% should get the breaks. …

Posted at 6:56am on Dec. 9, 2007 Mark Warner Advertising on Redstate??? Awesome!

By StevenK

Maybe you've seen the Mark Warner for Senate campaign advertisment on Redstate. My immediate reaction was, of course, that I couldn't believe Warner would advertise on RS, but then I realized it was Google Ads, and that he probably never intended the waste of advertising.

Then I realized... by clicking this ad - I just spent a bit of Warner's cash... and now that it's on Redstate, I can easily, efficiently, and conveniently leach off the Warner campaign. And you can too!

Businesswoman Anne Evans Estabrook formally announced her run today for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, billing herself as a candidate who can deal with the state’s affordability crisis.

“With New Jersey facing a true affordability crisis and with politicians putting partisanship above problem-solving, there could be no more urgent time for someone like myself with an outside perspective and a lifetime of experience building consensus to roll up my sleeves to help fix that badly broken business called the federal government,” said Estabrook, who owns and operates an industrial real estate company.
