By redlightgrnlight
In light of all the recent news, I thought I'd look him up. And this guy is actually a professional journalist? I his articles written like a high school journalism student. Below is a little taste.
Baghdad’s Sadr City neighborhood seethed with anger [RLGL: a neighborhood can seethe?] Monday over a U.S. military raid that U.S. officials said [RLGL: qualifying what the US says with what it's likely-more-sinister actions were] targeted a kidnapping ring. Iraqis said the raid killed as many as 17 civilians, including women and children [RLGL: because it sounds much more devastating].

Posted at 12:33pm on Oct. 25, 2007 Is Ron Paul actually improving in the polls?
By redlightgrnlight
[Editor's note: I do not officially support a Republican candidate in the 2008 primary, and I have posted in various streaks on RedState for two years.]
Of course, it's sometimes hard to distinguish a blip from a trend. But if it's two or three blips, with a little toss of the dice, maybe it's a signal of a trend.
The latest New Hampshire poll pegs Paul's support at 7.4%, good for fourth place and leading Huckabee at 6% and Thompson at 5% (and quite some distance behind third-place McCain).

Posted at 3:27pm on Feb. 16, 2007 More endorsements for McCain, Romney, and Brownback
By redlightgrnlight
The list continues here. While many Senators and Governors still sit on the fence, they've slowly been trickling support. While a few have indicated they won't endorse anyone in the primary contest, many have remained silent and appear to be waiting a little longer into the process befor

By redlightgrnlight
It's early, but that hasn't stopped the early endorsements from rolling in for McCain and Romney. I'll try to keep this up-to-date with the latest Senate and Governor endorsements. (Sorry, the House is just too big, but you can get a taste of what's going on there here.)
McCain: 7; 2
Collins, Graham, Kyl, Lott, Smith, Snowe, Thune; Huntsman, Pawlenty.

Posted at 5:44pm on Jan. 11, 2007 16 Dems (4 freshmen) oppose embryonic stem cell research
By redlightgrnlight
Making quick work, HR 3 passed 253-174-8 today. 16 Democrats, including 4 freshmen, opposed the legislation. Looks like not everyone's on board with the 100 hours. Also note that these Democrats are exclusively from the South and the Midwest. Here's to a few good Congressmen who aren't bullied by Speaker Pelosi.

Posted at 2:48pm on Nov. 9, 2006 When a Gang of 14 must become a Gang of 22
By redlightgrnlight
I’m no optimist. That’s why I had to sit down and figure it out by hand.
McCain’s “Gang of 14” deal among Senate moderates to refuse to filibuster judges and to guarantee an up-or-down vote on Bush’s judicial nominees had three interesting results. First, it drew the ire of some conservatives like Hugh Hewitt, despite the fact that it guaranteed at least 62 votes to invoke cloture for both Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito. (Hewitt’s wrong; see the third point, if interested.)

Posted at 3:09pm on Oct. 25, 2006 NJ requires homosexual marital rights; GOP gets a boost?
By redlightgrnlight
The New Jersey Supreme Court has rendered a ruling stating that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to the benefits of marriage. Whether those benefits are "marriage" or a parallel but identical structure is left to the democratic process.
The court determined that because there's no substantial relationship related to a legitimate governmental purpose, a definition of marriage with certain benefits that excludes homosexual is forbidden. The state’s Domestic Partnership Act is not enough. The court refused to determine whether homosexuals were required to :marry," but simply stated that they must at least have equal benefits as married couples. The court was unanimous in requiring the same "rights of marriage" to homosexual couples, but three justices in dissent thought that homosexual couples should also receive the "right to marry" and receive the title of marriage.

Posted at 4:25pm on Oct. 24, 2006 NJ Supreme Court may give a GOP October Surprise
By redlightgrnlight
Wednesday, at 3 p.m. EDT, the infamous New Jersey Supreme Court will render a ruling on whether homosexual couples have a constitutional right to marry.
Hotline reports that the chief justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court must retire Thursday. A homosexual marriage case has been pending since argument in February. The justice is liberal and would probably vote to alter the definition of marriage, because otherwise the case would have to have been reheard.

Posted at 10:27pm on Oct. 22, 2006 Michael J. Fox is wrong: Jim Talent supports stem cell research
By redlightgrnlight
Adult stem cell research, that is. I know, but watching Michael J. Fox's near-slanderous attack on Senator Jim Talent, you'd have no idea that when Fox says that Talent opposes research into "stem cells," he means "embryonic stem cells." And it's because Fox, tragically afflicted Parkinson's Disease, needs a cure. But Fox doesn't let on that, yes, even adult stem cells have yielded treatment for Parkinson's.

By redlightgrnlight
I'm a 24-year-old kid. I went to school in Michigan, with a great love for the state, for swimming and vacationing, for Detroit sports, for everything. After college, I did what just about all my friends did: leave the state in order to get a job.
