Posted at 11:04am on Jun. 2, 2006 NJ-SEN: Politics as Usual for NJ Democrats

By JK1150

Living in New Jersey, you get used to Democrats running dirty campaigns. The day Menendez kicked off his campaign, the dirtiest political stunt I have seen in New Jersey occurred. According to various press reports, convicts were waited outside a courthouse where Tom Kean (R-NJ) was scheduled to speak. When he walked out, the convicts turned on their lawn mowers to drown out Kean's speech on the courthouse steps (I wonder who gave the order to do that?). Then, union protestors also tried to drown out his speech. Of course, Democrats said corruption no longer exists in Hudson county, and denied having any involvement with the protests.

Below the fold are some more interesting quotes from papers.

Posted at 7:52pm on Apr. 26, 2006 Corzine (D-NJ) gets upside-down approval

By JK1150

In his first 100 days of office, Quinnipiac University tells us that Corzine has angered enough people to get him an upside-down approval rating:
35% - 42%

As you all know, his appointee, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), is up for election. Corzine cutting educational budgets, increasing spending elsewhere, and raising taxes has set the stage for a Kean win.
The most recent poll by Rasmussen has:

Kean 43%

Menendez 36%

Posted at 7:37pm on Apr. 26, 2006 Left Media Failing

By JK1150

The Drudge Report is reporting that leftist media is losing popularity. Most interesting is that Kos' book "Crashing the Gate" has only sold about 3,600 copies. Good thing the Democrats aren't in a majority, I don't think he'd be able to afford the taxes with those kinds of sales! What a surprise that no one wants to read a book about activism written by a kid who has lost all the campaigns he's endorsed.

Posted at 3:22am on Apr. 2, 2006 A Fighting Republican

By JK1150

While many "Fighting Dems" continue to get nudged out of their party or face losing primaries, the NJGOP has started to embrace there new candidate for the 9th District Congressional Seat. I've know him personally from his work on the Paul DiGaetano for Governor Campaign in 2005. I've heard him speak about his stories in Iraq, with such a positive outlook on Iraq. It was very interesting when he talked about civilian informants helping us capture terrorists, risking their lives to better Iraq. He is a man of integrity and is very bright. Republicans need to know that the soldiers stand behind us, and we stand behind them.

Posted at 4:09pm on Mar. 31, 2006 NJ-SEN Tom Kean Regains Momentum

By JK1150

When polls started coming out that showed Tom Kean (R) trailing Robert "Boss" Menendez (D), most Republicans thought it was the inevitable decline that Kean would not be able to recover from. Possibly due to the recent tax increases by Democrats in NJ, Kean has now brought the race neck and neck again, with a slight lead in on poll, also breaking the 40% margin. I truly believe that Menendez faltering is the doing of Governor Corzine, who has gone back and his promise and raised taxes as well as cut educational funding. Corzine is not done yet though, just recently he appointed a Democrat Congressman to be Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court, and to think it was Menendez who complained about Alito being too partisan! The polls are below the fold.

Posted at 4:22pm on Mar. 18, 2006 NJ Democrats show Democrat's Lack of Integrity

By JK1150

In wake of the 2006 midterm elections in NJ and around the US, Governor Jon Corzine (D-NJ) seems eager to prove that he and his fellow Democrats simply do not stand by there word. With all that is said about Bush, he never did go back on a campaign promise. While efforts like social security reform did not work, you can still credit him with trying. Corzine campaigned that he would increased the NJ Tax Rebate 40% in 4 years, a cleaver scheme to thwart opponent Doug Forrester's 30% in 3 years tax plan. While Forrester's would have been much more relief (30% decrease in overall property tax payments, compared to a 40% increase in rebates), Corzine was able to win over many voters on the issue. Now, Corzine has begun to tell the media that he doubts he will implement his plan. This is due to seeing the current state of the budget, but anyone could have gotten a copy of the budget. Is Corzine trying to tell us he campaigned for Governor with out knowing the state of the NJ budget? I hope my state of New Jersey can show the rest of the U.S. that Democrats really cannot be trusted when they campaign, it is important that people see what is happening in New Jersey. While Senate Democrats make unproven allegations of corruption and a lack of integrity in this administration, they are saying they are the "reformers." Maybe Pelosi, Reed, and Dean should turn to a place where Democrats actually do control something, and see what their "reform" actually accomplishes.

Posted at 5:20pm on Jan. 22, 2006 No more "Acting"

By JK1150

I just wanted to get some thoughts on this. Acting Governor Codey of New Jersey, replaced by now Governor Corzine, signed Legislation in that makes him Governor, not Acting Governor. This seems, to me, like a slimy tactic that has no benefit except to make himself look better and to say he was the Governor. Why does this bother me? He was never elected to be Governor. He was put in place when McGreevey resigned.

What are your thoughts on this?

Posted at 6:22pm on Dec. 15, 2005 NJ Governor Elect goes back on Promise even before Inauguration

By JK1150

Even before his inauguration, New Jersey Governor-Elect Jon Corzine has announced he will end his campaign vow to leave the gas tax alone. Not a surprise, as Corzine often said during his election that he would not sign a no tax increases petition. This comes along with New Jersey maintaining the highest property taxes in the nation, again something Corzine campaigned to fix. In recent news,  Corzine has said that his team will need to develop the "technology" to implement his plan first. You don't need a spaceship to lower taxes Jon...

Basically this means we will probably never get our meager tax increase that was promised. If implemented, it would probably save the average person about $60 per year.
