So, I'm running for city council in my small Wisconsin city of 10,000 people.
Anybody here have experience with the campaign process? Have others of you run for local political office? Any insight into what you've found successful - mailings, signs, calls, ads, etc?
Election is April 1, so I have some time, but it's about time to get the word out, and I'd like to spend my money and time wisely.

So, I've seen lots of comments like this one by Jon Sandor (RedState poster) about the separation of church and state:

Fair enough, I understand it's not written directly in the constitution. So can you explain to me the story behind this? I would Google it but you get all sorts of useless junk. Any insights or references to previous posts or URLs would be great.

An "educational" question for this novice.
In general, do you consider the senate (or being a senator) more desirable/elite/powerful than the house, or no?
Obviously, it seems more elite simply because there are fewer senators, but is this the consensus among you folks?
I can Google the practical and logistical differences between the house and senate, but if you had to choose, which would you be a part of, and why?

Does anyone know if there is a good site (maybe even somewhere in here) that gives a good analysis of all the races in 2006, and which the R's should win and which will be close? I'd like to get a feel for what's at stake in 2006.
