By curious-lib

I would just like to thank everyone who replied to my last post. I didn't expect such a generous (but not mean) donation of information about conservative principles. I apologize for not replying to your excellent comments. It's finals week :( However, Christmas break is coming - yes, this liberal celebrates CHRISTMAS - which will give me ample time to review your thoughts.

Again, the lurking liberal thanks you for your input.

What's a conservative?

I know the definition can vary from person to person.

But I know what liberals are, and even though I don't like all of them, I understand them. With conservatives, it's a different story.

Strong on defense. Stand up for life. Small government, drown it in a bath tub, etc. Rid the world of Islamo-evil-fascist-tyrant-communists or whatever you call them.

Such lovely policy positions. Does anyone exemplify all of them?

Posted at 9:40pm on Nov. 29, 2007 Can the Candidates Get an Amen?

By curious-lib

Here's a (long) piece on Romney/Rudy for my school paper. I need to know: Am I on to something? Am I completely off? Somewhere in between?

Two Questions:

  1. Can a thrice-married pro-abortion rights Catholic win the Republican nomination?
  2. Can a Mormon win the Republican nomination? Alternatively, can a former governor of Massachusetts with more liberal skeletons than a NY Times graveyard win the Republican nomination?

My blog seems to have walked off without me... I'm not sure where it went. I wrote two entires and now I can't seem to locate them. I shall peruse around a little more and entertain myself with interesting conservative blogs until I find my stuff.

Posted at 1:50pm on Feb. 15, 2007 The Problem with 2008

By curious-lib

I'll admit it. As a Democrat, the results of the 2006 Midterms made me dance in the street. I was jubilant. I didn't even believe we could take back anything other than 2-4 House seats. Winning both chambers of Congress was a dream come true.

But alas, the honeymoon is over.

With more presidential candidates than aisles at Wal-Mart, the political world has decided to move on to greater things. Candidates from both parties are already vacationing in exotic Iowa to garner votes for next January. What's an amateur political analyst to do? Do we get no rest?
