Posted at 8:02am on Jun. 3, 2008 Ode To Billy Jeff Clinton
By GordonTaylor
It was the third of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day
I was out choppin' cotton and my brother was balin' hay
And at dinner time we stopped and walked back to the house to eat
And Mama hollered out the back door "y'all remember to wipe your feet"
And then she said "I got some news this mornin' from Chappaqua Ridge"
"Today Billy Jeff Clinton jumped off the Geroge Washington Bridge"...

Posted at 7:27am on May 21, 2008 An Old Newness, by Thomas Sowell
By GordonTaylor
This is an amazing essay, it's well worth the read. At last, a whisper of reason in the tumult of the storm.
Thomas Sowell is (coincidentally) black and a highly regarded essayist.
Many years ago, a great hitter named Paul Waner was nearing the end of his long career. He entered a ballgame with 2,999 hits -- one hit away from the landmark total of 3,000, which so many hitters want to reach, but which relatively few actually do reach.

Posted at 6:35pm on May 8, 2008 Anatomy of a Train Wreck - Too Bad It's Another Republican
By GordonTaylor
After my blog today about the need to get to work at home, this comes on the news this afternoon.
Rep. Vito Fossella (R-New York)was arrested for DWI last week following a party at an area Hotel. This followed the visit to the White House by the Super Bowl Champion Giants.

By GordonTaylor
Thanks for pointing that out Ben. New Hampshire has shifted from a conservative state to a Liberal quagmire with a large influx of liberals from the Boston area. Heh, they really enjoy the low taxes, gee, no kidding.
When the first New Hampshire Republican debate was being held there, we sent Alex with reporters credentials to cover both the Democrat and Republican debates. In the process of inquiring about who was issuing the credentials, I contacted the State GOP office and they had no clue who was issuing them!

Posted at 3:02pm on May 7, 2008 Thank You Senator Clinton, You Are a Fighter
By GordonTaylor
Dear Senator Clinton,
Thank you from a constituent is hardly enough, but at this time in my life it is all I can offer. Thank you for not quitting, thank you for hanging tough. You are a fighter and I am behind you.
Although an upstate constituent, you represent me sure enough and I just KNOW you can beat the upstart from Illinois.
Evidence of your conviction and dedication is noted below. Shepherdstown is just outside of Washington, DC and I know it well. It's a small town, very near Harper's Ferry where another valiant battle was fought, you are in good country, fight that fight.

Posted at 7:51am on May 7, 2008 John McCain, Read This - Is Washington and Big Oil Burying This?
By GordonTaylor
When I received an email from a friend of mine in Alabama, I was skeptical about it's contents, it was a cut and paste for a newspaper article claiming a Tifton, Georgia man had discovered a way to may $0.25 a gallon fuel.
So, I visited my local Yahoo search engine, and it appears the story is true, at least at face value.
It seems the only outlet to pick up the story was the WND.
Some snippets and a link to the article.

Posted at 5:51pm on May 6, 2008 Americans Grow Despondent - And McCain Can't Help
By GordonTaylor
Americans are sullen, gloomy, despondent, morose [pick your favorite adjective] and with very good reason. April's polls show 81% of Americans believe we are headed in the wrong direction, and they are absolutely right. And their fears and anxieties are not based on our political direction, they go much deeper then that. Overwhelmingly, people do not believe any President or other government body can help this country "turn things around", and I say it's about time that they realized that fact. America was not made a country and people to emulate, by our politicians, but rather the people and industries that make up the basis of our real power.

Posted at 6:06pm on May 5, 2008 Another regular takes a leave of absense...
By GordonTaylor
My colleague and friend Dave Hinz has decided to take his leave until at least after the election. He will look in from time to time, of that I am sure.
While I disagree with my very good friend on his LOA, I support him fully and await his return.
To quote a little of what he has said...
I will no longer be posting at RedState until after the election. It has become clear to me that the atmosphere has changed over the past few weeks, and I will no longer be welcome.

Posted at 10:06am on May 3, 2008 William Ayres - Obama Says It's Gotcha Politics?
By GordonTaylor
Sean Hannity may have been the first one to bring the William Ayres/Obama connection to the MSM, but Dave Hinz has written a well researched and extensive piece about the man.
When George Stephanopoulos asked Barack Obama about his relationship with former Weather Underground terrorist William Ayres at the Philadelphia Democrat Presidential Debate on April 16, Obama dismissed the question. He called it "gotcha politics."

Posted at 1:24pm on Apr. 28, 2008 To All Politicians That Cheat On Their Expense Reports - Take Heed
By GordonTaylor
I have used this before, simply for it's comedy content. However, with the rash of scandals involving politicians lately, it has an entirely new meaning. Pay attention Elliot Spitzer, Gov. Paterson, Gov. Granholm, and the dozens of smaller, yet just as crooked slime that we have elected.
