FYI...

The Sunlight Foundation along with Citizens Against Government Waste, Porkbusters.com, Human Events Online, Club for Growth, the Heritage Foundation, and the Examiner Newspapers, have pulled together a database of the more than 1800 Earmarks appearing in the 2007 Labor HHS appropriations bill.

By ocschuylkill

A very interesting (read disturbing) bit of information just came to my attention (h/t Glenn Beck on Headline News).

Evidently, it is against regulations for Border Patrol Agents to pursue someone who is fleeing from them. If that little tidbit isn’t enough, the reason I found out about this is that 2 Border Patrol agents are looking at 20-year sentences for shooting at a “suspected” drug smuggler.

On my way to work today, I caught an interview on NPR with Ibrahim al-Moussawi. He is the foreign editor of al-Minar, a Lebanese television station with "close ties" to Hezbollah. Below is an unofficial transcript of the interview:

By ocschuylkill

Who says the French don't have a sense of humor? Just because they see Jerry Lewis as a comedic god, doesn't mean they don't know Funny.

In fact, just today the French Foreign Minister said Iran was a stabilizing force in the Middle East.

Posted at 10:11am on Jul. 28, 2006 Russia: A Bad Actor?

By ocschuylkill

From the diaries . . .

Q: What do Iran, North Korea and Venezuela have in common?

A: Russian support.

Although an oversimplification, the role of Russia illustrated above in international politics has seen a great resurgence since the rebound of the Russian economy began in 1999. From a virtual popper, back to a world player in less than ten years is quite an accomplishment. The rapid turnabout in the Russian economy is by and large the result of the growth in revenue from a single sector of the broader economy: Oil.

I chanced upon an interesting opinion piece thanks to the Captian's Quarters blog http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/ganymede.cgi/7620 . It turns out that an opinion piece appearing on [Al-Jazeerah's  website is condemning Senator Rick Santorum's recent commentary on the threat posed by Islamic Fascism.

Posted at 10:04pm on Jul. 17, 2006 Thank You Israel

By ocschuylkill

While I was checking in with my regular blogs today, I cam across an interesting press release (h/t Captain's Quarters) from what, at first blush, appears to be an unlikely source. The press release thanking Israel for the current use of force in Southern Lebanon is The Lebanese Foundation for Peace.

Other than the "irony" of a foundation for peace thanking Israel for being un-peaceful, the content of this release is a rather stark contrast to the MSM reports of increased support for Hezbollah among the Lebanese populace.

By ocschuylkill

According to the latest  Capitolwire (Subscription service look here for a synopsis), Sen. Specter is now defending RINO's in the PA State House and Senate race. Thee good senator has come out in full support of three of the most liberal members of the General assembly. These three are facing the toughest elections of their political lives, due in large part to their betrayal of Republican ideals.
