"My Friends" Im in Need

By Michelle Oddis

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is one-stop shopping for presidential candidates. It’s the one time every year that they can guarantee themselves the attention of more movement conservatives than at any other single gathering.

For years, Sen. John McCain has been noticeable by his absence. This year he’s not only coming, his campaign has bought a display booth in the exhibition hall.

McCain will address the conference on Thursday at 3 pm. He’ll follow Gov. Mitt Romney who will speak at 12:30pm. (Cong. Ron Paul is scheduled for 4:30 pm. Only Gov. Mike Huckabee hasn’t yet told CPAC he’d be there.)

McCain’s absence in earlier years is probably explainable by his attitude towards conservatives, which they have reflected right back at him. John McCain blew off CPAC last year. He came in last in the Presidential Straw Poll with only 12%. Mitt Romney came in first with 21%. McCain’s name was actually booed by the crowd of conservatives at several moments during the three-day program.

David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, host of CPAC since 1974 said ...

New Anti-War Film Based on Controversial Stop-Loss Policy

By Michelle Oddis

Last weekend I went to see the new chick flick “P.S. I Love you.”

I was in the mood for romantic cry-fest and studs with Irish accents, but before I got a chance to use my tissues I saw this preview for a new anti-war film called "Stop-Loss." Watch the trailer...

Posted at 12:04pm on Oct. 30, 2007 No Spammers in This Poll -- Thompson Leads with 23%

Cross posted from HUMAN EVENTS today

By Michelle Oddis

HUMAN EVENTS’ presidential preference poll of American conservatives found that former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson leads the competition for conservative support with 23% of the participants selecting him over the other candidates. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee tied for second with 19%, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney came in third at 13% and Arizona Sen. John McCain -- in what is probably a direct result of his stance on amnesty for illegal aliens -- came in dead last at 2.1%.

The poll, conducted by e-mail between October 24-29, was sent to approximately 32,000 HUMAN EVENTS subscribers and other people on our e-mail lists. Those requests garnered 2,013 responses. Respondents were spread across the nation: 21% on the East Coast, the same number in the Midwest, 16% on the West Coast, 15% in the Southeast, 12% in the Southwest and the remainder distributed in other parts of the country.

Among likely Conservative primary voters nationwide, 1,984 answered the question “If a Republican presidential primary were held in your state today, which of the candidates would you vote for?”

Congressman Pete Stark apologizes for his outrageous insult to the President and the troops

By Michelle Oddis

I hope that with this apology I will become as insignificant as I should be.

Yes Rep. Stark, you are insignificant -- and I hope you stay that way from now on.

NEW VIDEO SAYS NO MORE "PHOTO-OPS" WITH OUT HEALTH COVERAGE

By Michelle Oddis

This new video posted on OurFuture.org is titled "Bush vs. Kids." Our Future.org writes:

"Stop using children as political props while vetoing the State Children's Health Insurance Program. Use our SCHIP action page to tell Congress to override the veto and share the video."

The little actor in the clip says 'we won’t let you use us -- until you give us health care' while he adorably sips on a glass of milk...

Stop using children as a political prop? This is ridiculous. LOOK WHOS TALKING.

Last week I posted quotes from Dem Reps; Nancy Pelosi (CA), who cited a biblical reference saying that President Bush would bring new meaning to the phrase “suffer little children” upon veto of the bill, and “President Bush used his cruel veto pen to say ‘I forbid 10 million children from getting the health benefits they deserve.’” Rep. Lloyd Doggett (TX) on the House floor asked “how many children will be dead or will suffer with disease and disability until enough members of this Congress are willing to stand up to the President… ”

Dems have been using the "do it for the children" mantra for as long I can remember. We know that SCHIP has nothing to do with children and everything to do with the Democrats agenda to nationalize healthcare. This video is so off it has me thinking that liberals may not just be emotional and irresponsible but perhaps plain stupid.

Posted at 11:38am on Oct. 4, 2007 "How Many Children Will be Dead" -- Are you kidding me?

By Michelle Oddis

It’s predictable: when your ideology requires you to justify every tax-and-spend growth of government with the statement “it’s for the children,” it would only be natural for you to do what the Democrats and their amen chorus in the liberal media are doing about the President’s veto of the SCHIP (State Children’s Health Insurance Program) renewal legislation. If you listen only to them, you’d conclude that the President is against the welfare of poor American children and is using the money they need for healthcare to fund the War in Iraq.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has called the Dems accusations about the SCHIP veto "over the top, borderline ridiculous rhetoric" and he’s absolutely right. Boehner's office has put together some of the irresponsible and absurd things Democrats have said recently to distort the SCHIP debate.

·Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) on the House floor asked “how many children will be dead or will suffer with disease and disability until enough members of this Congress are willing to stand up to the President… ”

·House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) cited a biblical reference saying that President Bush would bring new meaning to the phrase “suffer little children” upon veto of the bill.

·House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) “told reporters she telephoned President Bush on Friday to tell him she was praying for him" to sign the Dem SCHIP bill.

·House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) after the veto said “President Bush used his cruel veto pen to say ‘I forbid 10 million children from getting the health benefits they deserve.’”

·House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said the veto is “a stunning lack of compassion for some of the most vulnerable members of our society.”

·Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) called the President “heartless” for vetoing the bill and rhetorically wondered “how he could sleep at night.”

·House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) accused Republicans of “telling children to take a hike” when it comes to healthcare

·Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) stated today on the House floor that “the Axis of Evil isn’t just in the Middle East, it’s just down here on Pennsylvania Avenue.”

Once again liberal Democrats petition on emotion avoiding facts in order to manipulate the public and push their agenda.

By Michelle Oddis

Right now on PBS is the GOP All American Presidential Forum moderated by Tavis Smiley.

It's about half way through and the top tier candidates have passed on this debate... but lets talk about it anyway.

Issues that have permeated the debate so far are the Jena 6, and Jena 6, oh and the Jena 6. The racial tension is THICK.

P.S. Alan Keyes is on a roll!
