Digging the hole a little deeper

By Ericka Andersen

Terrorist group Hamas endorsed Barack Obama and his key spokesman, David Axelrod, didn't know about it. It's probably something he should have been clued into considering the criticism opponents will have to something so damning.

When he was told about it by the American Spectator's Phillip Klein, Axelrod said he "had no idea about that."

Posted at 10:02am on Apr. 3, 2008 Hooveresque? You Decide Who Fits that Bill

You can't argue with history -- or facts. Clinton and Obama lead the way to economic destruction.

By Ericka Andersen

Herbert Hoover has taken the brunt of many negative comparisons. The Wall Street Journal reports that Chuck Schumer compared the Bush Administration to policies reminiscent of Hoover, saying they are keeping their “hands off” and letting the economy “sink.” Then, they reported, Hillary Clinton invoked the Hoover comparison to John McCain but the WSJ has an important question, “Who is really pursuing the Hoover model?”

They discovered, it’s Clinton herself. Oh yeah, and Obama is even worse.

“But the problem with Hoover's economic policy isn't that it was passive but that it was actively destructive,” says the editorial.

In short, Hoover, “undid the Calvin Coolidge-Andrew Mellon tax cuts, raising the top marginal income-tax rate to 63% from 25%” and there fore, “the recession became a Depression.”

It’s not John McCain who wants to undo the Bush tax cuts, it’s Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Posted at 10:39am on Apr. 2, 2008 Planned Parenthoods Across America Accepting Donations Specifically to Abort Black Babies

Lila Rose Exposes Planned Parenthood's Outrageous Agenda for What It Is

By Ericka Andersen

It’s hard to believe that Planned Parenthood could sink any lower than they already have with their blatant encouragement and provision of abortions – but they have. Last year, Lila Rose, the editor of UCLA’s student newspaper, The Advocate, posed as a 15-year-old girl seeking an abortion at a local Planned Parenthood. Rose was told specifically to lie about her age in order to receive the abortion without parental consent. Planned Parenthoods across the nation secretly employ this tactic everyday and have been accused of routinely failing to report sexual abuse of children and performing illegal abortions without the proper paperwork. (See the case of Phill Kline here for a perfect example of this abuse.)

This time, Lila Rose and the Advocate exposed another atrocity at Planned Parenthood. They called organizations throughout the nation posing as donors seeking specifically to exterminate black babies. Speaking with different PP representatives, each time the person was told their money could be specifically donated to fund the abortion of a black baby. Even when the caller used outrageously racist language, such as, “there are too many black people” or mentioned not wanting their children to be “hurt” by affirmative action, the representatives agreed to take the money for the purpose of aborting a black child.

“This new video demonstrates a disturbing trend of racism at Planned Parenthood,” said Lila Rose, editor of The Advocate said in a recent press release. “Planned Parenthood has no shame in accepting donations intended to purposely abort minority populations. People have forgotten the organization was founded on these principles and has continued to operate under these same racist views for decades.”

Posted at 9:53am on Mar. 27, 2008 At Winter Soldier II: Will You Sign an Affidavit? Nope

YAF's Jason Mattera hits up the event

By Ericka Andersen

Jason Mattera of Young America’s Foundation is at it again. He took to the streets of the Winter Soldier II event hosted by Iraq Veterans Against the War to ask participants if they would sign an affidavit or sworn testimony to the war crimes they claim to have witnessed or committed in Iraq.

The first Winter Soldier crew – John Kerry and friends – refused to do so and it’s clear the next generation is just as unwilling. Only one man in this video said he would sign a affidavit while the others said they would not or simply spoke around the issue.

These men are willing to speak openly on the immoral acts they saw overseas yet they will not commit to their own words:

On the IVAW blog after the event, participant and South Central Region Coordinator Justin C. Cliburn wrote:

"The only reason I heard about the original Winter Soldier was because of so many slandering the military service of John Kerry in 2004. Don't let that happen to us; keep the memory of Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan alive..."

Legally documenting testimony might be a good way to preserve the memory he wants to live on.

Vets for Freedom and the stories we must hear

By Ericka Andersen

Some of my favorites are making the headlines this week. The boys of Vets for Freedom will not be silenced and thank God, because their message is one of greatness. There have several items regarding the National Heroes Tour – as the Iraq veterans travel across the country to present their message of enduring victory.

Yesterday, the tour was to stop at Forest Lake High School in Minnesota but the event was abruptly canceled by Principal Steve Massey on grounds that it was “prompted by concerns that the event was becoming political rather than educational and therefore was not suitable for a public school.”

Though Executive Director Pete Hegseth specifically agreed to keep it purely educational, his promise was spit on when Massey opted to succumb to the complaints of parents. They threatened to protest, they complained. The people leading our public schools today are afraid; it’s no wonder kids today often reject the duty, honor and character that comes with serving in the military.

"Are we saying that patriotism and duty and honor have no place in our public schools?" Hegseth was quoted as saying in the Star Tribune.

Posted at 11:22am on Mar. 17, 2008 Ironic: Hillary Criticizes McCain on Iraq From America, McCain With our Troops in Iraq

The political diva might want to stop over sometime soon.

By Ericka Andersen

From the ground in Iraq on his eighth trip there, Sen. John McCain's campaign was able to respond to Hillary Clinton’s criticism of him earlier this morning in her speech on America’s presence in Iraq.

Clinton, speaking from the comfort and safety of American soil, has been to Iraq only twice. Her Democratic opponent Barack Obama has visited only once. Amidst a poll released today showing the positive changes Iraqis see overall, Clinton once again denounced the foundational agenda America serves in Iraq.

Playing off of McCain’s badly misused quote, she said, “"Withdrawal is not defeat. Defeat is keeping troops in Iraq for 100 years." Ignoring the progress of the surge and scaling back of troops, Clinton failed to mention the positive polls or applaud the progress our troops have made.

McCain’s campaign had this to say:

"At a time when Senator Clinton knows that American and allied forces are making real progress in Iraq, it is unfortunate that she would look to score political points by mischaracterizing Senator McCain's statement with intellectually dishonest attacks. The differences between Senator McCain's position, that we must win this war, and Senator Clinton's position, withdrawal and de facto surrender on day one, are important enough to have an honest debate over. It would be the height of irresponsibility to stick with campaign promises to the left-wing of the Democratic Party and proceed with withdrawal regardless of what the situation is on the ground in Iraq in January 2009. The point that Senator McCain was making was one about American troop presence versus American combat presence. He was speaking of a post-war scenario, not a hundred year war, when he suggested that the American people could support maintaining a military presence in Iraq should the Iraqi and U.S. governments determine it to be in their mutual interest, just as the U.S. and German, Japanese, and South Korean governments did after conflicts. One would suspect Senator Clinton is aware that American troops have been present peacefully in Germany and Japan for more than six decades. The American people deserve more than blatant mischaracterizations, and we invite Senator Clinton to participate with us in an honest debate."

Also in Iraq today is Vice President Dick Cheney. I’m curious what stats would surface if I documented how many times Democrat leaders have been to Iraq versus Republican leaders. I’m guessing the numbers would be vastly different. Maybe that's why Republicans are more inclined to highlight the good things that have been accomplished. Clinton is all politics. McCain is the real thing and he proves it by putting his boots on the ground.

UPDATE: Also this:
A new Rasmussen Reports survey shows Republican John McCain leading Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in Florida.

Posted at 9:56am on Mar. 13, 2008 Sen. Kerry Confronted About Winter Soldier II

Jason Mattera caught the surprised Senator in a cloud of lies easily proven wrong

By Ericka Andersen

Sen. John Kerry is notorious for his anti-war stance and personal testimony against U.S. soldiers with whom he served in Vietnam. His story has been raked across news wires over the years but how often are his words challenged as lies? Jason Mattera, of Young America's Foundation, caught up with Sen. Kerry to confront him about the 1971 "Winter Soldier Investigation." Now, Iraq Veterans Against the War are instigating a second "Winter Soldier Investigation." The four day "investigation" begins today so Mattera asked Kerry if he had any advice for those activists. Not surprisingly, he said little, denied his own documented quotes and lied about criminal charges being filed as a result. The end of the encounter is the best part -- watch to see:

Posted at 11:11am on Mar. 12, 2008 "Non-Partisan" AFL-CIO Campaign Against McCain Is Rather Shallow

So obviously partisan it's funny

By Ericka Andersen

First it was MoveOn.org, VoteVets.org and the Center for American Progress vowing to spend $20 million in ads to take down McCain. Now, it’s AFL-CIO, the nation’s largest labor union organization -- to the tune of $53 million.

According to the Wall Street Journal, The “McCain Revealed” Campaign will “paint McCain as anti-worker and to tie him to the economic policies of President Bush.” The record $53 million spent by AFL-CIO to elect a Democrat could be significantly influential because the organization reaches a massive number of voters directly, in accordance with their 13 million members.

Members of different unions will receive anti-McCain information specific to their professions. AFL-CIO did not endorse either Democrat candidate but members are said to be split between favoring Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. So long as it’s not John McCain, is their message. It rings true the reality that Obama and Clinton differ little when it comes to their policies on unions, healthcare, foreign policy or budgeting. Even though many conservatives despise the McCain candidacy, he still provides a strong contrast to his ultra-liberal opponents.

According to the Swamp Blog, "At a press conference yesterday, President John Sweeney "called it a 'non-partisan' effort more than once" -- but that's a real laugh. According to the CQ Money Line website (subscription required), 97% of the group’s contributions in 2006 went to Democrat candidates and causes. So it’s clear AFL-CIO is bein’ its normal shady self but there’s a trend in the past that seems to work: Republicans have always had less money than Democrats in elections and fundraising but it’s our principle and truth that are priceless.

Posted at 4:14pm on Feb. 3, 2008 Conservatives Crushing on Obama

By Ericka Andersen

My inbox was stocked full this weekend with reports and opinion pieces about why even Republicans have a crush on Barack Obama. It is a fascinating little trend – and even I have fallen in line. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with Obama’s policies nor do I want him to run the country, but there is something endearing and dare I say – inspirational -- about him. He’s been compared to Martin Luther King and JFK – I can’t say his words don’t resonate with the same, shameless hope. His rhetoric is refreshing but could only be acceptable if it were backed by sound experience and policy.

I see him as cultural leader. The world needs people like Obama – who represent a genuine spirit of optimism. Optimism, however wonderful and necessary, can be unrealistic. (I’m not a pessimist – just a realist!) He is refreshing – what people want to hear after these years of war and terrorism. But that is why an Obama presidency would be a decision based on instant gratification. We want peace and change and hope NOW.

Posted at 10:23pm on Feb. 2, 2008 Freakin' Awesome Obama Music Video

Wow. Anyone going to make one of these for Mitt?

By Ericka Andersen

I don't care if you are the biggest Obama hater out there -- you WILL think this video is cool. Obama's "Yes we can" speech in New Hampshire was historically memorable. This video cements the inspiration found in his words. He may be full of hopeful air but if you take the speech in a more personal way, it can certainly rustle something good in your heart.

The video is not sponsored by Obama but a collabaration of celebrities who support him -- singing the words to the "Yes we can" speech. The song is released by will.i.am, a Black Eyed Peas' singer, and director Jesse Dylan, son of Bob Dylan.

The others featured in the video, including Scarlett Johanson, John Legend, Kate Walsh and Kareem Adbul Jabbar(among others), sing the words to the speech as Obama's voice is filtered through at the same time. The way they sync the words together is chilling. The ultra-coolness of this video will likely persuade at least a few undecided, non-investigative type of voters to swing for Obama. I hope we see something of equal awesomeness from Republicans sometime soon.
