Could Shut Down the Senate

Dr. Tom Coburn (R.-Okla.) is readying himself to “object to everything” if Senate Majority Leader Reid continues to block his amendments to the Iraq spending bill said one of his aides.

So far, Coburn has filed amendments to strike the $100 million for security at the 2008 Presidential Candidate Nominating Conventions, to strike the $2 million allotted or the University of Vermont, to require public disclosure of all reports provided to appropriations committees and another to offset emergency agricultural funding.

...a long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right...

---Thomas Paine---

There is no doubt that Senator Coburn is the most valuable senator we have. I only wish the rest of the republicans would follow his lead.

Atticus - I definitely agree with you - how refreshing to see some backbone! And I LOVE the fact he goes after the $2 million for the University of Vermont - that wouldn't be directed at any particular Senator, now would it....Senator Leahy, care to chime in?

My question is this: if Senator Coburn does end up doing this and his actions do cause a significant delay and such - you can imagine the MSM whackos' reactions to him and of course, there would be a multitude of the LeftLemmings who basically make up their minds from 2 lines from CNN and will see Coburn as the one standing in the way of a pull out in March of '08 (that obviously isn't correct but it will be what their small attitudes can absorb)....well, would Coburn need a small army of security to just make sure he gets home safely??!

I'm sure Senator Coburn could care less about the political backlash of this but considering a few of Anti-War fringes, there has to be legitimate concerns for this guy's safety, would there not?

In the past, Coburn has shown that he is willing to stand up to anyone, including members of his own party, if it meant slowing down runaway spending. I don't think he is too concerned what the far left thinks of him now.

Of all the senators, Coburn is a true believer and deserves a medal for putting up with all the b.s. in government. What we need are 60 Tom Coburns in the US senate.

That if there were just a dozen Coburns in the Senate, our entire system of gov't would be reformed in glorious ways? How disheartening that out of millions and millions of us, and hundreds of races, we can only get one.

I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100 percent.

Let's start the campaign now - Coburn in 2016!
