History of Dixville Notch voting is here (and notably Republican in the past). Also of note, they don't really have a good prediction record.

Dixville had 23 vote in the R primary, 6 in the D. This time 7 in the R, 10 in the D. That mirrors the IA shift toward the Ds.

I looked at all the "R versus D" numbers in the recent past. But the fact this is the first election in awhile without a sitting president or vice president in the race means there is no way to get a base number to work with for trend lines. Even if there was every year is different in regards to candidate makeup. I think no trending conclusions can be reached, yet, on the turnout ratio between D's and R's. The most that can be said is the Independents appear to be going a little more for Obama than McCain in a tiny little New Hampshire town.
Does this recent spate of comments indicate that you have returned for good?

I agree with your assessment. I am hearing more and more people say this when they are being interviewed on radio and TV that they are dumping the GOP and voting for the Dems no matter what (at least at the presidential level).
We could be seeing the begining of the Dems 2008 senate victories as we did in 2006 for the House and the Senate.
I hope the final numbers tonight do not look like they do this morning, that is the GOP vs Dems vote ratio in an otherwise GOP state.

If Dan Rather were still on the air, he'd probably call it right now ... for Gore.
I'm guessing this will be appreciated:
Long-shot GOP hopeful Rep. Duncan Hunter attended the vote in Dixville Notch, where results were announced before 12:06 a.m."It epitomizes people-to-people politicking," Hunter said minutes before the votes were cast.
Hunter received no votes in either town.
This is the first election I've been glued to every detail, and I have to say, its like being in school.
I'm 32 years old and I'm finally learning something. I'm really enjoying all these little tidbits we hear about each aspect of the election.
I know, small towns, certain polls, trends etc... may not mean anything, but it really is fun to learn about them, take Dixbille Notch, I lived in NH for 5 years when I was in grade school and I just found out about their significance.

...with 5 votes total (including Hart's Location):

Here. Taking the average of the ten recent polls, McCain should win by five.
I heard a NH news program saying that there a total of 16 for Obama and 10 for McCain in the combined vote (46 votes) from dixville Notch and Hart's Landing. They lead their respective parties comfortably.
Hart's Location is also in. The results:
Republicans
McCain 6
Huckabee 5
Paul 4
Romney 1
That gives Paul a 4-3 lead over Romney! It's going to be a great night!
Democrats
Obama 9
Clinton 3
Edwards 1
Isn't it unseemly to report results, before ALL polling places have closed? Isn't that what cost Bush votes in the FL panhandle (different time zone) in 2000?
First, these are actual vote totals, as opposed to projections from exit polls. Second, anyone dumb enough not to cast his vote based on Obama and McCain winning Dixville Notch and Hart's Location is too dumb to have his vote counted anyway.
Anyone expecting that the weather was going to depress turnout is going to be greatly disappointed. It's already almost 40-degrees here (from my vantage point just south of Pelham, NH) with an expected high temperature in the LOW-60's!!
In other words, it was warmer at 05:00 this morning that it was at just about any point all last week.
Unless people are playing hookey in the spring-like weather, they have no excuse to not get to the polls.
I for one and just glad they're actually voting. Finally.

if the independents are going for Obama ... a sign of good things for Romney.
This town has always been pro-GOP, it looks like in 2008 the tide has turned and now more and more North East Republicans and Independents are switching to the Dems.

I won't get any work done tomorrow!
