Go Fred!

& maybe Huckabye has had his Chuck Hagel/Howard Dean moment with that weird news conference?

How smooth to have a presser proclaiming & displaying the attack ad that "you didn't show."

I think people are starting to scratch their heads as to why they supported Huck in the first place

And GO FRED!

and has no Celtic genes. Thnk you, Moe.

We had a college student living with us this past school year. She was a Japanese Mormon music major who played the bagpipes in a marching band. She practiced the pipes in our laundry room. Is that the most diversity you have ever heard of? She is a wonderful girl and we miss her since she married just before Christmas and moved away.

By the way, I once read an advertisement: Bagpipe player available for weddings, funerals, border disputes . . .

I used to work for a company that had an annual company party/festival called "ducky day" (long story). The start of the festivities were announced to one and all by one of our developers marching down the hall playing the pipes. Coincidentally, our building was right under the approachway for the MSP airport, and we were close enough to the incomming planes that we could see the tread on the tires.

One year, our bagpipe-playing developer was unable to start the proceedings, and a lot of people were curious about the change.

I started a rumor that the aiport called and complained about the noise. Everyone beleived it.

or piebrouch [sic/] not the war pipes or bag pipes. Thiese pipes are played by pumping a bellows not by blowing into a bag. My Italian relatives love celtic music as much as I love Italian cooking.

dance pipes. Too much "water of life' causes vision problems.

to this otherwise very satisfying video.

Nothing quite like pipe music. As Garrison Keillor once described it, it's the kind of music that makes you want to go out and conquer the country next to you. (Or, something like that).

Personally, I'd like nothing better that to see a Scots Highlander buttstroking Keillor, and other pantywaist snob liberals like him---with the pipes skirling in the background, of course. But that's just me.

The Unofficial RedState FAQ
“You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say. ” - Martin Luther

out on this New Year.

I wanted to open up a slightly different topic. It is about the economy and the three classes of folks that I see: capitalists, socialists, and fair weather capitalists.

We can all identify the first two, however it is the third group that I am afraid of. Those are the folks that are all for capitalism as long as things are going well. There were a lot of capitalists in the early and mid nineties. Once things unravel as they have in my business, mortgages, then all of these fair weather capitalists want regulation, oversight, and government interference. Each economic crisis puts us one step closer to socialism because of these folks.

Here is how I wrote about this phenomenon on my blog.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor

The Provocateur

There has to be a message in Lloyd Carr's year: losing to Appalachian State and then coming back to earn a bowl berth, now beating Florida.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Lloyd Carr went out a winner. Chad Henne threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns, Mike Hart ran for 129 yards and two scores and the Wolverines upset No. 9 Florida 41-35 Tuesday in the Capital One Bowl to win their first bowl game since 2003. This one was special. Michigan's senior class won its first bowl game in four tries and Carr ended his coaching career on a high note.

Henne, Adrian Arrington and Mario Manningham torched Florida's secondary all game. Arrington caught nine passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns, and Manningham added five catches for 78 yards and a score.

I am aware this is a sports story, but there could be parallels.....

I watched the whole game. UM started strong, jumped out to an early lead, only to falter and then fall behind. They regrouped to tie it up, and then seemed to be taking control, only to falter again, allowing two straight touchdown to allow Florida to tie it all up again.

In the end, after falling behind in the final quarter, they put it all together for a final score, then shut down the much vaulted Florida offense to win it all.

Probably a good thing that they played the entire game, don't you think. According to the polls, the UM lost before the game started, when they trailed 14-7 and again when they trailed 35-31.

"Nothing works like freedom, Nothing succeeds like liberty"
Kyle

Tebow, Daniel, and McFadden both had uninspiring games. McFadden got shut down (if you consider 105 yds "shut down") by Missouri, and Daniel just had to hand the ball to Temple all day long (281 yds, 4 TDs).

Now we wait to see what Brennan does in the Hawaii game. Personally, I hope Hawaii slaughters Georgia (no offense, Erick). I want to see the BCS made to look like the absolute joke that it is. If the only undefeated team in the Top 25 routs a supposedly better team (that lost 2 games), then the cry for a playoff over this BCS abomination becomes even more compelling.

I was one of those who was saying the big ten was overrated, and the SEC was dominant, so far big ten has been dominant.

I heard it on the radio. Your points about playing the entire game are well taken.
Hope you all have a pleasant, productive, happy and healthy New Year.
